The Associate Laboratory Directorate for Weapons Production (ALDWP) has an exciting opportunity for a Space Planning and Allocation Manager. The selected candidate will function as a member of the ALDWP team and report to the ALDWP/COO Office and will be responsible for overseeing the strategic planning and allocation of office space, ensuring efficient use of space, ensuring new construction meets the needs of ALDWP and enhancing space utilization throughout the ALDWP portfolio. This role requires a proactive individual with strong communication and analytical skills, creativity, and the ability to work collaboratively across all organizations within and outside of ALDWP to support our growing workforce and facilitating mission execution. This position will require the program manager to work directly with leadership within ALDWP and across the Laboratory to identify current and future office space needs. It will also require the manager and their team to establish methods to ascertain and track space utilization, to apply cost and budget analysis to aid in future space planning needs/projects including coordination and relocation. Work is accomplished without frequent direction and may include the coordination of activities of other personnel throughout the ALDWP. The selected candidate will exert significant latitude in determining the objectives of the role and will need to work across organizations and layers of management.

Program/Project Management
- Ability to function as a member of an executive management team, to work effectively with all levels of internal and external personnel and be able to gain consensus, build teams, and resolve conflicts.
- Ability to understand strategic developments and leverage various funding opportunities to realize the necessary improvements to ensure the ALDWP becomes a top-tier NNSA production agency.
- Expert level knowledge of and demonstrated experience interfacing with executive-level external and internal personnel, including building trust, gaining consensus, and resolving conflicts.
- Expert level knowledge of and demonstrated experience strategizing, planning, developing, implementing, and managing process improvements.
Leadership/Management
- Expert knowledge of successfully demonstrated consultative experience in leadership, supervision, and development of assigned employees (both TRIAD and contractors) with the ability to engage staff and peers through encouraging innovative ways to change, grow, and improve a program.
- Demonstrated expert level consultative experience in developing and nurturing effective external and internal customer relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to track >10M budgets and provide innovative space solutions to meeting the need of a growing workforce.
- Ability to understand engineering drawings, codes and standards.
Collaboration and Communication
- Demonstrated expert level knowledge and experience working closely across organizations to advance and integrate work in a multiorganization environment.
- Demonstrated excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
- Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration on space-related projects to enhance overall efficiency and productivity.
- Communicate space planning strategies and changes to all stakeholders effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office Suite i.e. word, excel, PowerPoint, and outlook.
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Demonstrated expert level experience gathering data, utilization studies and ability to analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Demonstrated expert level experience preparing and presenting reports, briefings and metrics to internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated expert level experience maintaining accurate documents of records and associated software systems
Education and Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 12 years of directly related program management experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications:
- At this level an advanced degree may be expected.
- Experience with Oracle and Archibus software systems.
- Proven experience in space planning, space allocation or facilities management.
- Project Management Institute (e.g. PMP, PgM) certification and/or Lean Six Sigma Certified.
- Familiarity with Los Alamos National Laboratory mission and operations.
- Familiarity in nuclear facility operations or other highly complex, hazardous operations, particularly as it pertains to the Los Alamos Mission.
- Ability to obtain a DOE Q clearance (active clearance preferred)
Work Environment:
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
