This position will be filled at either the System Analyst 2 or 3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
Join our world-class software scrum team. We are looking for a strong system analyst to join the Applications and Data Services - Mission Application Services (ADS-MAS) Security (SEC) and Quality Performance Assurance (IQPA) Scrum Teams.
System Analyst 2 ($83,900 - $136,600)
As a System Analyst, you will provide system analysis support on assigned projects, collaborating with technical staff to meet project requirements. You will offer expertise in Software Quality requirements, and work closely with other analysts, software developers, business customers, end-users, and I&T professionals. You will be responsible for reviewing, understanding, and documenting end-to-end work processes, ensuring clear communication across teams. Additionally, you will translate complex technical concepts into easy-to-understand terms for non-technical stakeholders. You will quickly adapt to new assignments, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and work effectively within a team environment. You will also demonstrate strong customer focus, interpersonal skills, and perseverance, with the ability to work independently on non-complex systems. Your knowledge of physical and logical badging security and Institutional Quality & Performance Assurance will be key in ensuring compliance with security and quality standards.
System Analyst 3 ($101,700 - $168,200)
As a System Analyst 3, you will take on more advanced responsibilities, analyzing complex business problems and determining automated solutions to meet user needs. You will provide technical expertise in identifying, evaluating, and developing systems and procedures that are both cost-effective and aligned with business requirements. In this role, you will configure application settings and options, plan and execute testing, and create detailed specifications for systems to ensure they meet business needs. You will be responsible for maintaining both hardcopy and electronic quality assurance records in accordance with LANL practices. You will also conduct periodic audits to ensure that quality and configuration management requirements are effectively implemented. With more experience, you will work with limited supervision and independently elicit and document requirements for complex systems, providing guidance on system improvements and enhancements.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Understanding of the application development process and SDLC from a system analyst perspective.
- Demonstrated good oral and written communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Hands on experience analyzing and troubleshooting escalated technical issues.
- Ability to read and write SQL, including knowledge of data retrieval/analysis techniques.
- Experience developing, executing, and coordinating unit, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Experience developing system requirements, specifications, and functional interfaces between system software components and the system-level design.
- Experience with automated testing software.
- Basic knowledge of Scrum or Agile framework.
Additional Job Requirements for System Analyst 3:
In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requires:
- Excellent analytical skills to assess complex business problems and identify technology opportunities.
- Advanced experience analyzing and troubleshooting technical issues.
- Advanced experience developing, executing, and coordinating unit, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Experience mentoring more junior team members.
Education/Experience at lower level: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and 4 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Postgraduate degree in related field may serve as years of related experience.
Education/Experience at higher level: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and 8 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, post graduate course work may be expected.
Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge of MicroStrategy reports and datasets
- Experience with Eggplant Functional and Eggplant DAI.
- Knowledge of SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) or similar.
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, and user stories development.
- Research new technologies and tools in relation to current IT trends
- Experience with Generative AI
- Knowledge of and configuration with COTS DevonWay platform configurations
Work Environment:
Work Location: The work location for this position has the potential for remote work. Remote work is defined as working offsite that is greater than 2 hours of the Laboratory location. Reporting onsite may be periodically necessary. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
