Los Alamos National Laboratory Air Quality Post Masters Student in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
The Air Quality Post-Masters internship is a year-round position for a candidate to gain hands-on technical experience and professional development in environmental compliance activities while learning about a variety of non-traditional air emission source categories.
Examples of projects within the Air Quality Compliance team that may be assigned include, but are not limited to:
Research and quantify emissions and air permit requirements for emerging technologies such as 3D printers;
Conduct field assessments of air emission sources to ensure permit requirements are being met;
Prepare annual summary reports for a variety of emission sources;
Assist with development and conversion of recordkeeping to new environmental compliance database;
Assist with developing air permit applications
The position is located in Los Alamos, NM.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Completed a Master’s level degree from an accredited graduate degree program within the last 2 years;
Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent);
Strong knowledge and experience developing complex spreadsheets and databases such as Microsoft Excel and Access;
Education: Master’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
The students selected for this Post-Master’s internship are most competitive when they possess the following knowledge and skills:
Experience and interest in reviewing and interpreting environmental regulations;
Experience with air quality related engineering calculations;
Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to safety;
Demonstrated ability to communicate (verbal and written) well in a professional scientific context; and
Commitment to achieving results in a complex social and organizational setting
