What You Will Do
The Ombuds Office at Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a conflict resolution & interpersonal communication intern for a Graduate Student Assistant position within the Ombuds Office in the Ethics & Audit Division. The Laboratory Ombuds Office is an informal, independent, confidential and impartial resource that provides a safe place for individuals to engage in confidential consultations, coaching to reframe challenges and evaluate options, as well as facilitation and skills building. Tasks include:
Learn the foundations of organizational ombudsman practice
Complete a mediation certification course, Organizational Ombudsman Foundations and other relevant training
Represent Ombuds on Lab-wide initiatives as assigned
Develop & conduct surveys, and analyze data relating to Ombuds operations, which may include Lab-wide conflict capability, perception of the Ombuds Office & utilization rates
Additional tasks may include:
Provide appropriate referrals and resource support to employees
Promote the office through marketing initiatives and at special events and fairs
Coordinate, develop and deliver educational classes or presentations
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Demonstrated experience applying conflict resolution techniques and strategies
Demonstrated excellence with interpersonal communication skills while working with diverse populations in team settings
Excellent writing skills
Experience with group facilitation and/or mediation
Experience creating, conducting, and analyzing surveys and evaluations
Experience analyzing data and providing written conclusions and feedback
Experience working with individuals or groups while maintaining strict confidentiality
Education : Currently enrolled in a conflict resolution, organizational development, psychology, or similar graduate program with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
