Los Alamos National Laboratory Construction Procurement (Superintendent 1) in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
Safety and security are primary responsibilities for all Laboratory employees. Maintains required safety and security training and assures compliance; makes safety and security an integral part of every task. Takes steps to stop work if unsafe conditions exist or security is compromised.
Works with Superintendents and/or Field Engineers in the development of procurement submittals as required by design.
Working knowledge and/or relationships with ASM Buyers.
Perform super designated procurement representative functions in accordance with LANL policies and procedures.
Coordinates, tracks, reconciles, and reports material status on all construction projects.
Through interaction with Superintendents and/or Field Engineers, researches, assembles, and/or evaluates product information or data regarding non-availability of designated materials identified in design.
Demonstrates working knowledge within the craft disciplines that contribute to the consolidated bill of materials (CBOM) development for initiating procurement.
Works with Superintendents, Field Engineers, and/or discipline craft Foreman in the development of CBOMs.
Conducts material status meetings with CMs and other supporting designated procurement representatives (DPR) for inventory control and/or storage requirements.
Knowledgeable with construction schedules related to material promise dates, material inventory control and/or procurement practices.
Knowledgeable of project’s management level (ML1, 2, 3, 4) in relationship to procurement of goods/services.
Uses latitude in the methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results that enhance process improvement.
May provide input to the development of individual goals and objectives.

What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Minimal knowledge of and experience with construction management including systems engineering design, safety/authorization basis, configuration management programs, work control, facility control systems, major construction projects, and upgrades and renovations.
Minimal knowledge and understanding of collective bargaining agreements related to all trades.
Demonstrated minimal experience and skill with, labor relations to include bargaining unit employees.
Demonstrated minimal experience with understanding and interpreting various physical, mechanical, and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
Demonstrated minimal experience utilizing and manipulating a computerized work management system (CMMS) in maintaining and tracking procurements in I-Procurement.
Demonstrated minimal experience and skill in identifying problem areas, investigating alternative solutions, and determining action to be performed on problems affecting the procurement of goods/services.
Demonstrated minimal skills in the preparation and presentation of oral and written reports.
Demonstrated intermediate computer skills in MS Office, CMMS, and I-Procurement.
“Q” clearance desirable, not required.
Education: Position requires 5 years of relevant experience.
Location: This position will be physically located in Los Alamos, NM.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 2 years.
