What You Will Do

The selected candidate will be a member of the NIE-ESS network and computer security teams who are all responsible for computer security incident response, penetration testing, vulnerability scanning and mitigation, security tool development and support, and LANL’s network security architecture.

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Administration and support of security applications (COTS and custom built) and databases in an enterprise environment.

  • Mitigation of application vulnerabilities.

  • Support of performance monitoring tools.

  • Work on complex projects and coordinate between technical teams and business stakeholders.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Thorough knowledge of and demonstrated experience with system security vulnerability issues, and system security architecture.

  • Demonstrated experience with high availability services, performance monitoring tools, and learning new software and processes.

  • Extensive experience documenting technical requirements, system builds, and network configurations.

  • Thorough knowledge of and demonstrated experience with using automated installation and configuration management tools.

  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and solving complex issues.

Desired Skills (skills that are nice to have, but not necessary):

  • Knowledge of Windows Server operating systems (to include Active Directory).

  • Experience using and supporting technologies such as, VMWARE.

  • Strong desire to learn new ways of doing things and a willingness to adapt to ever changing requirements.

Education: Position typically requires a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in a technical field and a minimum of 4 years’ related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At this level post graduate work may be expected.
