What You Will Do
This position will be filled at either the Cybersecurity Technical Staff 1 or 2 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
Cybersecurity Technical Staff 1 ($75,400 - $122,900)
The selected candidate will serve as a Programmer and Systems Administrator on the Development Services team and will be responsible for:
Administration of information systems running on Windows, macOS or Red Hat Linux operating systems
Administration of databases (MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server)
Automate reporting of service metrics.
Develop scripts to automate routine tasks.
Providing 3 rd level support for NIE-CDS solutions and tools.
Understanding of basic networking protocols
Creation of documentation for technical staff and end users on setup, configuration, and operations of NIE-CDS solutions and tools.
Cybersecurity Technical Staff 2 ($83,300 - $136,200)
In addition to the duties outlined above, the Cybersecurity Technical Staff 2 will be required to:
Development of software using agile or similar development methodologies.
Effectively communicate difficult technical issues to personnel ranging from field technicians to senior management.
Research new solutions, operating systems, and applications for implementation across the laboratory.
What You Need
Location: This position will be physically located in Los Alamos.This position will be part of the Laboratory’s Telework Pilot and may work from a remote/home location within a two-hour ground commute of the Laboratory. The Telework Pilot is in effect from Oct. 1, 2020 through Sept. 30, 2021, but may be shortened or extended at the manager’s discretion. Ability to report on-site is a must for this position.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Cybersecurity Technical Staff 1:
At least two years experience in system administration of Windows, macOS and/or Linux based systems.
At least two years experience working with relational databases.
At least two years experience in at least one programming or scripting language.
Additional Job Requirements for Cybersecurity Technical Staff 2:
In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requires:
Five years or more experience working with relational databases.
Five years or more experience in at least two programming or scripting languages.
Five years or more experience in system administration of Windows, macOS and/or Linux based systems.
Education/Experience at lower level: Cybersecurity Technical Staff 1 typically requires a bachelor’s degree in a technical field and a minimum of 2 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At this level post graduate work may be expected.
Education/Experience at higher level: Cybersecurity Technical Staff 2 typically requires a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in a technical field and a minimum of 4 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At this level post graduate work may be expected.
Experience with Federal information technology standards and guidelines including FISMA, CIS, NIST 800-53 and the DISA STIG.
Microsoft or Red Hat certification
Extensive shell and Python programming experience.
MySQL or Microsoft SQL Server certification.
