The Cybersecurity Technical Staff member will report to the Group Leader within the Network Infrastructure and Engineering Group (NIE) Division. Our group provides first class support to over ten thousand employees, students, and contractors through services that involve file transfer, SAML, LDAP, DNS, DHCP, RADIUS, Kerberos, proxy, perimeter firewall, remote access, and searching. Some of the duties of the job include: (1.) designing and developing a new service or customer interface (2.) provisioning and configuring the servers and applications behind institutional service (3.) adding new monitoring and measuring key metrics to better understand a process (4.) working with various support teams to provide timely solutions for end-user problems (5.) improving automation and analyzing workflows (6.) designing, specifying, and developing solutions for complex heterogeneous computing infrastructure.
What You Need
Location: This position will be physically located in Los Alamos.
P osition commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 Year.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Thorough knowledge and experience with all aspects of current network technology including network protocols, network infrastructure elements, network applications, services and related protocols, and shell scripting.
Excellent written and oral technical communication skills as demonstrated by ability to communicate complicated technology concepts to multiple employees and end-users.
Tools and Systems
Practical knowledge of TCP/IP networking and troubleshooting connectivity issues and experience providing solutions for an extensive and diverse range of complex problems through provisioning, administering and using modern Unix/Linux operating systems.
Experience working as a productive member of an interdisciplinary team, including the demonstrated ability to develop solutions for a wide range of complex problems while effectively networking with peers inside and outside of the organization.
Education/Experience: Requires a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Computer Science, or a technical related field, and a minimum of four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated commitment to centralized configuration management and automation, preferably with Puppet. Solid understanding of network protocols and ability to use diagnostic tools appropriately and experience supporting high availability solutions such as load balancing, clustering, or fail-over mechanisms.
Proven ability to satisfy customer requirements as demonstrated by the ability to resolve a wide range of issues in creative ways while directly contributing to the laboratory’s mission.
Tools and Systems
Database, web server, web applications design and administration experience, including Apache, MySQL, Postgress, Sybase, and PHP. Experience using Juniper, Pulse Secure, NetApp, Infoblox or other proprietary operating systems and devices.
Red Hat training or certification.
Experience using LANL or other DOE systems.
Active DOE “Q” clearance
