Los Alamos National Laboratory Experimental Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics Postdoc in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher in the area of experimental atomic, molecular and optical (AMO) physics. We are a part of the Quantum Technologies team in MPA-Q at LANL and our main research effort is in developing various quantum sensors with ultracold atoms. The first project for this position is realizing a highly sensitive rotation sensor with an atomtronic SQUID. In the previous experiment (Nature Communications 11 , 3338 (2020)), we demonstrated quantum interference of currents in an atomtronic SQUID and a rotation sensing scheme based on this device will be realized in this project. The second project is developing a quantum sensor measuring gravity gradients with a waveguide atom interferometer for the application in gravity imaging and gravity survey.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Strong background in experimental AMO physics
Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Research experience in ultracold atomic physics
Background in quantum sensors and atom interferometers
A Ph.D. in physic completed within the past five years or soon to be completed is required. The candidate will have completed all Ph.D. requirements by commencement of the appointment.
Note to Applicants:
Review of applicants will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
