What You Will Do

The Los Alamos National Laboratory’s Analytics, Intelligence, and Technology (A) Division merges all-source intelligence on national security threats with cross-domain systems modeling and information synthesis and communication tools, to enable technology development and application in the national interest. The Information Systems and Modeling group (A-1) within A Division is looking for outstanding candidates in the field of geospatial information systems who have been awarded a bachelor’s degree within the past three years but have not yet been accepted and enrolled in a graduate program. The successful candidate will support projects that focus on solving emerging and challenging problems in the area of nuclear security.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Strong skills in geospatial information systems and imagery data processing
Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects
Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing
Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS and QGIS
Proficiency in python, SQL, and html
Education/Experience :Bachelor’s degree in GIS, image science,or a related discipline. Eligibility limited to students who have completed a bachelor's degree within the past 3 years, but have not been accepted and enrolled in a graduate program. The bachelor's degree should have been completed with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or equivalent.
Proficiency in database management systems and tools such as Postgresql, PostGIS, and MySQL
Proficiency in command line Linux-based environments
Experience working with hyperspectral and multispectral imagery
Experience with web server administration
