Los Alamos National Laboratory Logistics Electrical (Superintendent 2) in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do The position is located in Los Alamos, NM.

As a member of the Logistics Division, the Field Work Execution Superintendent will be responsible for directing and providing oversight of bargaining unit Craft in the performance of facility preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance and modification work activities. Additionally the Superintendent will be responsible for planning, scheduling, sequencing work activities, work execution, and work package closeout. Depending on the assignment, a Superintendent may be responsible for work activities at a Department of Energy Category II Nuclear Facility, Non-Nuclear Facility, or both.

Superintendent’s will also be responsible for maintaining required safety and security training, assuring safety and security compliance, and making safety and security an integral part of every task; to include taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Expert level experience in facility electrical distribution system maintenance to include in depth knowledge of NFPA 70E, NFPA 70, NFPA 70B, and ANSI/NETA MTS.

  • Expert level of experience performing fabrication, installation, modification, and testing of various electrical systems. Significant level of experience performing breaker maintenance.

  • Expert level knowledge of interpreting various mechanical and electrical documents, specifications, drawings, and schematics.

  • Moderate level experience directing multi discipline craft in the performance of facility maintenance, facility modification or construction projects. Moderate level of understanding and identifying work place hazards and implementing safety policies and procedures to mitigate hazards. Moderate level knowledge of the lock-out/tag-out process.

  • Moderate level of experience reviewing project plans and coordinating with project team members to develop project cost estimates and execution schedules. Ability to track projects through all stages of execution and provide project updates when requested.

  • Ability to of identify problem areas that could lead to project impacts, track project impacts and to perform trend analysis to provide process improvement ideas to increase efficiency.

Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution and 5 years of experience in maintenance and/or construction; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience directing work and understanding of collective union bargaining agreements.

  • Working knowledge and/or experience working in an operating hazardous facility.

  • Knowledge of environmental laws, regulations and requirements.

  • Demonstrated ability to learn and utilize a computerized work management system in maintaining and tracking job activities.

  • Demonstrated skill in the preparation and presentation of oral and written reports.
