What You Will Do_

The selected candidate will report to the SIGMA Complex Operations Manager serving as the primary interface between the tenant organizations, support services subcontractors and FOD to review and implement Conduct of Operations requirements. Primary duties include but are not limited to: monitoring of all facility infrastructure, equipment and safety systems; facility work release and work control by tracking, screening and ensuring all work activities have been properly scheduled through the Plan-of-the-Day; administration of the lockout/tagout management program to include issuing locks and procedural development; tracking and performing Safety Basis surveillance to ensure facility systems are in conformance with the established authorization basis for operation. The SIGMA Complex Operator position requires on call coverage and therefore requires the ability to respond to on call emergencies.

  • Demonstrated experience with Conduct of Operations as applied to a Hazardous Facility

  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of the following aspects of equipment operations as applied to a Hazardous Facility:

  • Procedural compliance

  • Hazard identification and analysis

  • Configuration management

  • Formal work control processes

  • Demonstrated knowledge of typical facility electrical and mechanical systems, sub-systems and components (heating, ventilation, refrigeration systems, cooling towers, fire suppression/alarm systems, air compressors, pneumatic controls, etc.)

  • Demonstrated experience in performance and review of surveillance instructions, including tracking/scheduling

  • Knowledge and understanding of mechanical and electrical schematics

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

  • Work well with others in a group setting utilizing strong collaboration skills to achieve mission oriented organizational goals

  • Demonstrated expert level of knowledge and experience in facility operations and maintenance including mechanical and electrical systems

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and manage complex maintenance and construction activities from conception to completion ensuring minimal impact on programmatic operations

  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of the following aspects of equipment operations as applied to a Hazardous Facility

  • Significant experience with Microsoft office suite

Desired Skills: Prior experience working in an environment with strict conduct of operations requirements, for example, Naval Nuclear Power Program or commercial nuclear power plant.

Education:HS Diploma. (College credit in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics related course work)
