What You Will Do
The Operator 5 reports to the UI Facility Operations Manager. They are responsible for maintaining operational control of UI facilities and their systems. Key functions include operating facility systems, supporting facility customer needs, and providing oversight of maintenance activities in UI buildings. Typical areas where the Operator 5 will provide support to include operating facility equipment, ensuring configuration management, mentoring junior Operators, and assisting Facility Operations Manager and Facility Building Managers in performing technical/administrative tasks as required to support facility operations.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Broad/in depth knowledge and experience with facility operations and maintenance, including demonstrated ability to perform operational activities, identify and review work hazards, and experience providing oversight of work performed within assigned facilities.
Must have the ability to analyze/troubleshoot operational system problems, including performance of root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions .
Demonstration of professional-level proficiency in applying LANL’s Conduct of Operations/Maintenance/ Engineering as they pertain to facility operations.
Ability to perform job functions independent of continuous oversight, and to provide guidance to others.
Willingness to learn new skills from others, work collaboratively, and to seek opportunities for increasing job-related training.
Excellent communication skills.
Direct experience creating, modifying, and managing work according to operational documents such as procedures, operator aids, shift/standing orders.
Experience managing configuration of equipment/systems processes (controlling MEL, LOTO inventory).
Demonstrated ability in evaluating effectiveness of existing maintenance efforts, and in contributing to the maturation of facility equipment maintenance programs.
Education Required: Position typically requires a high school diploma and 6 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At this level, additional training, certification, and/or education is desirable.
Essential Job Functions (Can perform with or without reasonable accommodation): Ability to hear high-pitched sounds, ability to hear in a normal range (500 to 3000 htz), climbing stairs, climbing ladders, bending, lifting 20 to 30 pounds, carrying 10 to 20 pounds. Standard physical requirements associated with field observation and oversight.
