Los Alamos National Laboratory Planner 1 in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

Come join our team and help us support the world class scientific excellence at LANL by ensuring that our Laboratory work areas support the broad mission sets and unique needs of the work performed here. As a Planner 1 in the IFPROG-Data Group.

The Data Group within the Infrastructure Program Office (IFPROG) at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is seeking interest from highly talented, motivated and customer-oriented applicants for a FIMS and G2 Planner 1 Position. These positions support the IFPROG Data Group in the FIMS and G2 Programs. The FIMS program supports initiatives tied to the management of all real property data. The G2 program supports multiple programs as it relates to the planning, tracking and management of facilities and infrastructure projects. These positions will be working to ensure data integrity, reviews, uploads and the creation of projects. The selected candidate will work in a highly motivated and cohesive team to bring forth effective results.

Successful applicants must be self-motivated and have the ability to work independently, as a member of a team and also work directly with a variety of customers both internally and externally to LANL. The applicants will work directly with a variety of customers, across multiple laboratory disciplines, to ascertain customer needs and to produce quality products under shifting deadlines. Safety and security are a primary responsibility for all Laboratory employees. The applicant shall maintain up to date required safety and security training, assure safety and security compliance, and makes safety and security an integral part of every task, including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge of reporting on facility data within multiple databases (FIMS & G2) based on various sources including facility projects, or other institutional documents.

  • Knowledge in compiling and delivering concise and accurate oral and written presentations to internal and external customers on project status, changes, and alternative approaches.

  • Basic knowledge working with database administrators, system administrators, and customers to ensure data systems meet reporting requirements.

  • Ability to research, assemble, and/or evaluate information or data regarding Laboratory programs, industry practices, or applicable regulatory changes affecting facility and infrastructure.

  • Experience working with databases to collect, manage, interpret and report large volumes of data.

  • Experience using Microsoft office products, including Access, Excel and Word.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the Laboratory’s infrastructure, site planning, and project management policies, practices

  • Experience in small project coordination, execution and working with multiple disciplines to accomplish a single objective.

Education: Position requires a minimum of two years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.

This position will be physically located in Los Alamos, NM.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 . Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements

  • for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance which requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon position, additional authorization to access nuclear weapons information may be required that may or may not be available to dual citizens depending upon the circumstances.

  • Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. SeeDOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the required period of continuous service, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader.
