Los Alamos National Laboratory Predictive Maintenance Engineer (Engineer 3) in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

The Engineer 3 reports to the MSS-MP Group Leader and is responsible for overseeing the Predictive Maintenance Program at Los Alamos National Laboratory. The program includes providing PdM technologies to customers throughout the laboratory, providing guidance to FOD teams that wish to establish a PdM program in their facility, providing training to PdM technicians, engineers, and managers. The program also includes providing troubleshooting assistance through the use of PdM technologies. Currently, LANL makes limited use of PdM technologies and is looking to expand their use to improve reliability and increase maintenance efficiency. The MC will lead that effort. The majority of the work will be with facility and industrial type equipment as well as occasional work with specialized experimental equipment.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Experience in a predictive maintenance program to include:

  • Vibration Analysis and familiarization with CSI/Emerson Model 2140 FFT data collector and AMS Machinery Suite Software. Thermography including Low Voltage Electrical Testing, Flat Roof Surveys for moisture problems, Underground Steam/Condensate Leaks, and Steam Trap function check.

  • Experience with Root Cause Failure Analysis (RFCA)

  • Ability to establish an implement a PdM Technologies Program and provide training to customers that include technicians, engineers, and managers.

  • In-depth knowledge of and experience with facility and/or mechanical that includes fully understanding and interpreting various mechanical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.

  • Ability to conceptualize and fully communicate major elements of predictive maintenance to both technical and non-technical personnel.

  • In-depth knowledge of a large facility complex predictive maintenance policies, practices, and procedures.

Certifications : Ability to obtain Vibration Analysis Certification within one year of hire date.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering discipline and eight years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Flir T640 IR camera and Reporter Software.

  • Active Q Clearance
