Los Alamos National Laboratory Project Estimator 3 (Estimator 3) in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do_
There is nothing ordinary about the work being done at LANL. The Estimating division invites you to join our team working on all capital projects across the laboratory. The Estimator 3 will support the lifecycle of engineering and construction projects. At this level, the estimator is responsible for preparing cost/schedule products for proposals or contract negotiations. The successful candidate provides input on the level of effort required (cost/job hours) through coordination with the various functions and/or vendors and consolidates input for costing. You will prepare feasibility and life cycle cost estimates to support design evolution as well as perform and review methodology for quantity takeoffs form design drawings for multidiscipline sections customizing to reflect best effort.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Knowledge of EPC estimating methods, processes and procedures, with estimating types, classifications and components.
Experience in Lump Sum Design Build estimates.
Demonstrated applied analytical and quantitative skills.
Extensive experience in detail level estimates and design packages.
Experience in making decisions; researching, analyzing, and solving problems.
Experience performing quantity takeoffs, statistical analysis and cost price analysis.
Must be familiar with engineering and construction codes and standards.
Experience working on multiple projects with conflicting and often changing priorities and deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff, management, and external customers.
Multidiscipline construction experience working on projects valued up to $10M.
Experience with WinEst or other relational database software and integration with scheduling and performance measurement systems.
Experience with RS Means.
Education: Position requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of eight years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. BS in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
Clearance: Q(Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

Term position: Regular-status Laboratory employees applying for term-status positions may retain regular status with approval of the cognizant Principle Associate Director.
