What You Will Do
Bioscience Division (B) comprises a diverse group of experimentalists and computer scientists who work closely with other interdisciplinary scientists across the Laboratory. Their work serves the Nation by developing science and technology to reduce natural and deliberate threats to human populations, their way of life, and the global environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with a large team of staff scientists, postdoctoral researchers and technicians as a part of a multi-disciplinary research project within the BOTTLE Consortium ( www.bottle.org ). The project combines protein engineering and high-throughput selection and characterization of enzyme candidates for efficient degradation of plastics.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Ph.D. in a relevant field such asBiochemistry, Biophysics, Bioscienceor Chemistry within the last 5 years.
Experience with molecular biology and protein chemistry
Knowledge of protein structures and understanding protein structure-function relationships
A strong publication record (e.g. 3 to 4 publications arising from Ph.D.)
Excellent communication and writing skills in the English language
Ability and eagerness to work in a collaborative team environment
Deep knowledge in protein engineering and selection methods
Experience working with large libraries of protein variants
Demonstrate strong experimental skills in molecular biology, protein expression, purification and characterization
Experience with analytical characterization methods such as HPLC, MS, NMR
