The Intelligence and Systems Analysis Group (A-2) is seeking outstanding applicants for a software developer to be a part of the Secure Data Systems team, which serves as system administrators and developers for a range of applications spanning unclassified through TS/SCI architectures. The Group, with an annual budget of over $30 Million, consists of approximately 60 full-time employees as well as affiliates, guest scientists, students, and postdoctoral appointees.
The Intelligence and Systems Analysis Group (A-2) provides technical analysis to aid the U.S. Government in detecting and countering proliferation of technologies and commodities related to nuclear weapons, improvised nuclear devices, and nuclear and radioactive materials. Working in the Los Alamos National Laboratory Field Intelligence Element, teams of scientists, engineers, and intelligence analysts provide analysis to the U.S. technical, intelligence, and policy communities regarding the capabilities of nation-state and sub-national actors who may pose a nuclear threat to the U.S. and its interests.
This position will be filled at either a Software Developer level 1 or level 2, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
Software Developer 1 ($64,400 - $102,300) Responsibilities:
Ability to work as a team member to design and maintain database-backed websites
Full stack development: Client-side logic, server-side logic, design and layout
Develop applications in a cloud environment
Participate in all steps of application development starting with gathering requirements from customers, designing the underlying data structure, implementing the GUI, maintaining the design and data, and training the end users.
Successfully work within the constraints of a secure environment
Software Developer 2 ($77,300 - $126,000) Responsibilities:
In addition to the duties outlined above, the Software Developer 2 will be required to:
Proven ability to work independently on assigned tasks
Mentor other team members working on your project
Experience providing input and new ideas for proposals
Provide project updates to the team leader, project leader and/or the customers
Occasionally travel to sponsor sites to provide training and demonstrations

Minimum Job Requirements:
Software Developer 1 Requirements
Experience with CSS and HTML
Experience developing applications in cloud computing environments
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Self-motivated team player
Ability to obtain and maintain an SCI clearance, which requires US citizenship
Software Developer 2 Requirements
In addition to the requirements outlined above, the Software Developer 2 will need:
Experience developing websites with CSS, HTML, and script libraries such as jQuery
Experience debugging, trouble-shooting, and diagnosing problems
Education/Experience at lower level : Software Developer 1 position typically requires a relevant bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Education/Experience at higher level : Software Developer 2 position typically requires a relevant bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Software Developer 1
Experience with IBM Domino Designer or XPages programming
Visual design skills for web-based applications, including experience with the Bootstrap framework
A basic understanding of database concepts, including document-based data systems
Experience with Node.js or similar framework
Experience with React JS, Vue JS, Angular JS or similar framework
Experience with source control
Software Developer 2
In addition to the desired skills above:
Experience in basic project management
Experience in interacting with customers
Experience in mentoring team members
Location: This position will be physically located in Los Alamos, NM.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
