What You Will Do
The Software and Applications Engineering (SAE) Division supports Los Alamos National Laboratory’s (LANL) enterprise applications and performs software application development support, database development and administration, software quality management, and enterprise application consulting. The Enterprise Business Software Group (SAE-2) provides application development, commercial off-the-shelf application implementation, and adoption/integration with Software as a Service solutions.
Working alongside some of the brightest minds, you will work with a team using agile development methodologies to support custom development and maintenance of various enterprise COTS and custom applications. Specific duties include tasks associated with the upkeep of various laboratory applications, the design and development of new applications and standards, and ensuring compliance with Laboratory specifications, standards, and security policies. The candidate must have programming experience, excellent organization skills, and the ability to multi-task. Finally, we are looking for a candidate with a high motivation to learn new technologies, business processes, to become an expert in their field, and the willingness and confidence to develop safety-class, mission-critical software.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Proven software lifecycle knowledge of all phases, including requirements, design, development, and testing with appropriate documentation. Experience in writing and implementing business solutions using agile practices and principles.
Experience providing customer support including collecting functional requirements, configuring, administering, and debugging technical issues with various IT systems. Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with peers and all levels of external and internal personnel, technical and non-technical.
Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills to handle communication with technical and non-technical peers, customers, and stakeholders. Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Applicants must have the ability to obtain and maintain DOE clearances, which normally requires US citizenship.
Education/Experience: Position typically requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifi cations:
Experience with HTML5, XML, J-SON, AJAX, CSS, etc.
Experience with MEAN/MERN stack, React.js.
Knowledge and understanding of container-orchestration systems such as Kurbernetes or Docker.
Knowledge of the DevSecOps culture and principles and experience CI/CD development, and deployment of software in a diverse application environment.
Experience developing and enhancing Mobile Applications.
Experience utilizing Scrum or Kanban framework.
Experience utilizing tools such as Jira and/or Confluence.
Experience with consuming and writing RESTful and/or SOAP Web Services.
Location: This position will be part of the Laboratory’s Telework Pilot and may work from a remote/home location within a two-hour ground commute of the Laboratory. The Telework Pilot is in effect from Oct. 1, 2020 through Sept. 30, 2021, but may be shortened or extended at the manager’s discretion. Ability to report on-site is a must for this position.

for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance which requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon position, additional authorization to access nuclear weapons information may be required that may or may not be available to dual citizens depending upon the circumstances.
Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. SeeDOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
