What You Will Do
A division within the Business Management Associate Laboratory Directorate, the Software and Applications Engineering (SAE) Division provides software and applications development support and database design/ development and administration, software quality management, and enterprise application consulting. The selected candidate will report to the SAE-2 Team Leader and perform job requirements as described below and as assigned by the SAE-2 Management.
The selected candidate will work as a Software Developer in the Software Applications and Engineering group (SAE-2). The candidate must have programming experience, good organization skills, and the ability to multi-task. The successful candidate should also have a desire to learn new technologies, to become proficient in their field, and the willingness and confidence to develop safety-class, mission-critical software. Finally, the candidate must be a highly motivated software developer with experience in relational data modeling and various programming languages and tools.
The successful candidate will perform the following:
Gather requirements, design, develop, and deliver web-based and mobile applications and web services while collaborating with other senior developers.
Configure, automate, maintain, and document continuously integrated product builds and deployments.
Utilize analytical, process, and/or technical skills to meet project objectives and deliverables within project scope..
Research new technologies and tools, incorporate their usage into new products and services, and mentor junior developers.
Communicate and collaborate cross-functionally, and work well with a team-oriented environment.
Develop, implement and maintain software applications and build new capabilities and refactoring existing code of current software applications.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Experience with modern frameworks such as Django, Spring Boot, Laravel, Rails, React JS, Angular JS, Vuse.js, or JQuery to quickly create responsive++ web and mobile applications.
Experience designing, developing, modifying, testing, debugging software to meet customer requirements.
Knowledge of XML, HTML5, CSS, JSON, AJAX, and RESTful Services.
Knowledge and understanding of relational databases and standard query language (SQL).
Understanding of the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including software configuration management practices.
Experience with testing frameworks (Junit/Gatling/Cucumber/Cypress.io)
Experience using a software version control system (Git/GitLab)
Understanding of web security and secure coding practices.
Experience in developing Java and J2EE multi-tier applications utilizing best software engineering practices using object-oriented methods and design.
Experience working in an Agile (SCRUM) team environment.
Comprehensive and practical understanding of mobile platforms, embedded database design, synchronization technologies, bi-directional replication, conflict resolution strategies, mobile UI design, and field force automation best practices.
Experience developing and enhancing Mobile applications.
Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills for communicating technical information and building relationships with customers and peers.
Strong design, development and trouble shooting skills.
Be an excellent team player and independently able to research and provide resolute on for production support.
Experience with software configuration management; software quality assurance methodologies.
Demonstrated experience analyzing and defining business requirements and preparing technical designs.
Strong multitasking capabilities and the ability to work on multiple projects/issues simultaneously.
Software Developer 2 Education Required: Position typically requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
