Los Alamos National Laboratory Software Developer Post-Baccalaureate Student in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

This position is housed within the Enterprise Business Software Group (SAE-2) in the Software and Applications Engineering Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory. The position is responsible developing Enterprise Business and Engineering software applications under the mentorship of a senior software developer within the SAE-2 organization. While working in a team environment, the successful candidate must also be able to work independently and be capable of developing software applications using a variety of software tools and databases.

The successful candidate will perform the following:

  • Maintain a safe and secure working environment.

  • Work as a team member with direction from the SAE-2 management.

  • Help design, modify, and test enhancements to applications supported by SAE-2.

  • Knowledge designing, developing, modifying, testing, debugging software to meet customer requirements.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

For full consideration, candidates must be pursuing one of the following degrees (or equivalent): Management Information Systems or Computer Science.

A resume and current transcript, showing the GPA and course work requirements, is required.

  • Experience working effectively as part of a team.

  • Experience with the syntax, structure, features and facilities of at least one programming language such as Java, .NET, JavaScript, Python, and/or AngularJS.

  • Experience with relational databases and standard query language (SQL).

  • Knowledge and understanding of systems development life cycle.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with software configuration management; software quality assurance methodologies; software development methodologies.

  • Experience reading and interpreting application system design and program specifications.

  • Experience writing programs in a specific language for a specific platform.

  • Collaborate with customers and colleagues.

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.

Education: Completion of a Bachelor’s degree within the past 3 years or soon to be completed, with a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
