Los Alamos National Laboratory Support Specialist (Maintenance Support Specialist 4) in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

The Maintenance Support Specialist 4 reports directly to the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) Work Control Team Lead as a regular staff member. This is an IT position in support of the Maintenance and Site Services Division. Primary duties includes providing the institution with a robust, reliable CMMS system. LANL uses the Asset Suite software application as part of its CMMS system. The employee will ensure that technical services between CMMS and other software applications are operational; CMMS data including equipment information is of high quality; and evaluate maintenance processes, programs, and procedures for potential improvements. The employee will focus on managing data related to real and programmatic assets, ensuring that equipment related data comply with maintenance and engineering policies, processes, procedures and provide training in support of the conduct of maintenance program.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Significant knowledge and experience with a computer maintenance computer system/ operations in both administrative and technical functions.

  • Extensive experience in maintenance processes, engineering terminology, and real property/equipment configuration.

  • Ability to research, assemble, and/or evaluate data and information regarding industry best practices or applicable regulatory changes affecting policies or programs; recommend sound, practical solutions to complex issues.

  • Expert knowledge of industry, regulatory and DOE/NNSA codes, standards and criteria pertinent to Conduct of Maintenance and Configuration Management.

  • High-level experience developing and maintaining Maintenance and Engineering Standards for maintenance of facilities and SSCs.

  • Ability to fully conceptualize and communicate major elements of maintenance work control and planning to both technical and non-technical personnel.

  • Ability to provide user support for customers using standard maintenance and engineering procedures. Duties may include troubleshooting, granting permissions, and training CMMS users.

  • Ability to work independently under minimal direction.

  • Knowledge of software, tools and processes, including software development methodology framework, source code control, application development tools and techniques, database design, development and management, programming languages, and component integration.

Education/Experience: Position requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum eight years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience and or knowledge with Asset Suites software application.

  • Understanding of the LANL’s work control and facility policies, practices, and procedures.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served at least one year of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
