The Logistics Division delivers critical, customer-focused services powered by a highly skilled craft workforce that keeps operations running across the Lab. We are seeking an experienced Deputy Group Leader (DGL) to provide technical leadership for the LOG-CS Group. This role partners with internal and external customers, including Maintenance (MSS) and Construction (ALDICP), to deliver qualified craft resources, develop schedules, and ensure consistent supervision and standards.

In this role, you will oversee LOG-CS operations while balancing logistics and Craft business functions to support work execution across FODs and related facilities. As DGL, you are expected to facilitate a full customer service model that provides centralized coordination, management, and tracking of specific area needs to ensure the success of the Logistics and Craft deployment mission. In addition, you will uphold high standards of professionalism while ensuring that schedules and performance standards are realistically set and attained.

Candidates should have strong knowledge of logistics business processes, LANL policies, and Collective Bargaining Agreements, along with significant experience working with craft or union workforces. This role requires providing technical direction, coordinating personnel, and driving continuous improvement while meeting customer expectations and operational requirements.



What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:



Facility & Technical Expertise

  • Experience in maintenance and construction within nuclear or high-hazard facilities.
  • Demonstrated thorough knowledge of critical core preventative maintenance functions and construction project management.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to interpret civil, mechanical, and electrical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.


Safety, Compliance & Operations

  • Demonstrated understanding of government regulations affecting facility maintenance and management including but not limited to general OSHA safety practices in relation to safety policies, and facilities policies and procedures.
  • In-depth knowledge of work hazards, operating configurations, and lockout/tagout procedures
  • Must be able to prepare and present safety and technical briefings to large groups of craft employees


Leadership & Workforce Management

  • Demonstrated experience and skill in management, supervision, human resources, and labor relations administration of assigned employees (both Craft and Non-Craft in a deployed or matrixed organization)
  • Expertise in labor relations, including Collective Bargaining Agreements and jurisdictional settlements


Collaboration & Communication

  • Proven ability to work across multiple business units to support materials, PPE, and resource needs
  • Skilled in influencing, negotiating, and gaining stakeholder buy-in in sensitive situations


Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement

  • Experience conducting critiques, root cause analysis, and applying lessons learned
  • Ability to identify, propose, and implement performance improvements
  • Experience developing and executing organizational strategies and objectives


Education: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 5 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications:

  • In depth knowledge of the Laboratory's organizational structure
  • Must have extensive experience working with LANL Collective Bargaining Agreements
  • Demonstrated experience with LANL business systems for management and administration of personnel including timekeeping, payroll, budgeting, travel, training and certification, performance reviews, and payroll policies and procedures, related to Craft and Non-Craft
  • Working knowledge of construction work scheduling and current FOD POD and scheduling processes
  • Experience implementing work control policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and present safety and technical briefings to large groups of a diverse workforce representative of all types and levels of workers.
  • Demonstrated experience with LANL HR-LR and Legal counsel and procedures for progressive disciplinary actions.


Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance, and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.



Incentive Compensation Program:
Position is eligible to participate in the Triad Incentive Compensation Program. You must be in an eligible position for a minimum of 3 months, before July 1st and remain in an eligible position as of the end of the fiscal year, September 30th. The annual distribution is prorated based on the number of months in the eligible position.
