What You Will Do

Reporting to the Occupational Health Operations Support Services Group Leader, the successful candidate will conduct medical diagnostic testing to patients/employees of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL).
  • Provides diagnostic clinical testing services to patients of Occupational Medicine within the scope of individual certification and regulatory requirements. Specific duties require American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification as and licensed in the state of New Mexico as a Radiographic Radiologic Technologist. Other duties may include: vital signs, height/weight, vision testing, pulmonary function testing, electrocardiograph, phlebotomy, specimen collection, and specimen processing.
  • Applies knowledge of the job, and Laboratory policies and principles to complete a wide range of tasks. Has complete understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories and concepts in the field. Also has general knowledge of other related disciplines. Assignments are usually focused while working within established priorities, procedures, processes requirements or specifications. Priorities and tasks are usually prescribed.
  • Expected to provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with the organization objectives.
  • Incumbent works under general supervision. Follows established procedures for routine work. Ability to work rotating work week schedules consisting of 4-10 hour and 5-8 hour weekly shifts as needed. Future potential for On-Call support.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Experience in General Radiologic Imaging technologist
  • Fully proficient knowledge of the anatomy and physiology being tested
  • Fully proficient experience operating a variety of testing and/or diagnostic equipment related to gathering diagnostic testing results
  • Knowledge and understanding regarding protected personal health information
  • Knowledge of Bloodborne Pathogens Protocol
  • Proficiency in computer use, office software, and web interfaces
  • Demonstrated customer focus with ability to interact with a large cross section of colleagues and diversity of customers
Training/Certifications:
  • AART Certification as Radiographic Radiologic Technologist, and
  • New Mexico License eligibility
  • Current certification and skill in basic life support (BLS)
Education/Experience: Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 2-4 years of experience gained through training in specific field of technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree preferred

Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Position Commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.

New-Employment Drug Test:
The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
