This position will be filled at either the Quality Assurance Analyst level 2 or 3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
The Production Liaison Group (W-8) is the Design Agency representative to the Nuclear Security Enterprise production plants and ensures that weapon production activities at the Production Agencies meet design requirements and intent. W-8 also provides document configuration management (DCM) and Engineering Authorizations (EA) and quality assurance release to W-Division and associated ALDW programs.
W-8 is looking to fill a Quality Assurance Analyst (QAA 2/3) to support all aspects of quality assurance related to DCM for weapon production definition. The successful candidate will report directly to the DCM team leader and W-8 group leader. This is an on-site position at Los Alamos, NM.
Quality Assurance Analyst 2 $78,700-$125,100
This position requires interaction with system engineers to develop and manage documentation. The primary role of a W-8 QAA employee is to ensure that all documents related to the nuclear weapons programs are current, accurate, and complete for a given weapon system.
The selected candidate must be able to operate independently and must exercise individual initiative to demonstrate successful completion of assigned tasks. This position collaborates with multi-disciplinary teams consisting of system engineers, physicists, technicians, and designers.
The successful candidate must possess strong personal leadership and teamwork skills. In order to effectively meet stakeholder deadlines, flexibility is required. The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate that he/she can work on multiple tasks for numerous stakeholders with changing priorities. Other relevant skills include experience with document review, formatting, technical editing, and coordinating the formal release process for all weapon design definition on both the yellow and red networks. The successful applicant will ensure the alignment of equivalent quality assurance (QA) work conducted by the Engineering Authorization Quality Assurance team. The selected candidate will assist the DCM team leader in the updating procedures, training documents, and templates.
Quality Assurance Analyst 3 $94,500-$154,600
In addition to the responsibilities outlined at the lower level, the selected candidate will be expected to demonstrate expert-level document processing skills, strong personal leadership, and the ability to effectively guide and motivate the DCM team to achieve organizational goals. They will need to be able to operate independently, have strong problem-solving skills and exercise individual initiative to complete assigned tasks along with supporting team member growth and development.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Quality Assurance Experience
Experience in QA processing documents. Additional experience to include ensuring results, materials, processes, and final products that meet quality-specific specifications, and completion according to established requirements. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in editorial review to include proofreading, grammar, spelling, punctuation, accuracy, and attention to detail with a high level of accuracy when reviewing technical documents, diagrams, drawing, and parts-lists.
Data Management
Experience with relevant software applications, spreadsheets, word processing, and product data management tools. Demonstrated experience in management of classified and/or unclassified materials, and electronic media. Demonstrated experience with configuration management and quality control pertaining to procedures related to quality, data gathering and analysis, cause and corrective action determination, and process improvement activities.
Personal Leadership
Experience collaborating with LANL management, integrating efforts between teams, and directing stakeholders to resources, procedures, and appropriate capabilities. Demonstrated experience guiding configuration management efforts from conception through approval, release, and distribution. Experience in effectively supporting multiple high-level deliverables and/or assignments in a timely manner.
Communication and Teamwork
Experience building strong stakeholder relations, adhering to security requirements and definitions, especially in regard to protection of LANL technologies, products, and related documentation. Proven experience in clear and concise oral and written communication.
Leadership Experience
Experience interacting within a large team, with technical staff, and supporting stakeholders from diverse backgrounds to ensure high-quality service.

Education/Experience at the Level 2:
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Education/Experience at Level 3:
Position requires a bachelor's degree and 8 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, post graduate course work may be desirable.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with the engineering authorization system, document management (e.g., EALink, ThingWorx, and PDMLink), and applications to stockpile maintenance.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Visio.
- Extensive knowledge of configuration management.
- Demonstrated expertise in management of classified materials and electronic media.
- Derivative Classifier (DC) experience.
- Active DOE Q-Clearance and Sigma 15 authorization.
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level).
