Fabrication/Machinist Technologist (Research Technologist 1)

What You Will Do
The Technology Applications Group (A-5) is looking to add an experienced machinist or fabrication technologist (Research Technologist) to our dynamic team. A-5 applies a broad range of engineering and scientific expertise to support nuclear counterproliferation (NCP), nuclear counterterrorism (NCT), nuclear emergency response (ER), defense, intelligence, and emerging technology efforts. Under the guidance of senior technologists, engineers, and scientists, this person will perform advanced fabrication work in support of engineering, science, and national security missions.
This position supports rapid development and response through in-house advanced manufacturing and machining capabilities. Assignments typically represent portions of larger engineering or research efforts and require technical depth, independent judgment, and a strong understanding of manufacturing principles. This position contributes to the development, implementation, and completion of project objectives by transforming concepts and designs into high-quality fabricated components, often on short timelines.
Work may involve classified hardware and activities related to national security objectives, requiring the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance.
