The National Criticality Experiments Research Center Facility Operations (NCERC-FO) is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Facility Project Coordinator to support operations across its multiple facilities, which include the DAF and other NNSS facilities. The Facility Project Coordinator will be responsible for developing, executing, and overseeing work control and equipment approvals, security plans, and scheduling customer's operations.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Establishing program/project requirements with program managers, detailing the actions necessary to be able to operate in the DAF to meet mission requirements, setting realistic expectations, and conveying scheduling effects and delays.
- Coordinating, scheduling, and executing preparatory work for high hazard nuclear operations to be successfully completed.
- Working with security, both physical and informational, to ensure operations are executed in a compliant manner.
- Coordinating the transfer of equipment to and from the DAF.
- Authoring and revising work control documents that define a scope of work, analyze the hazards, and develop the controls and permits necessary to safely execute a project.
- Develop additional responsibilities that enhance the capabilities at NCERC, including becoming a Fissionable Material Handler, source custodian, and Person in Charge.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Demonstrated knowledge of Safety Management Programs, including criticality safety, radiation protection, industrial hygiene, USQ program, and Conduct of Operations.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate multiple project schedules into an executable plan with respect to personnel, equipment, and facility availability.
- Demonstrated understanding of classified matter protection.
- Demonstrated knowledge of physical and cyber security requirements.
- Demonstrated experience with multiple aspects of technical project management including defining program work scope, schedules, priorities, and performance milestones.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively present information and respond effectively to colleagues, management, and sponsors.
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, and make decisions, solve problems, exercise good judgment, work under time constraints, work with minimal supervision and prioritize workload.
Education/Experience: Position requires a bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution and 2 years of directly related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:
- Ability to effectively communicate with customers across various governmental agencies.
- Knowledge of Integrated Work Management and Integrated Safeguards and Security Management
- Experience developing work control documents.
- Experience developing security plans.
- Active DOE Q clearance.
Work Environment:
Work Location: The work location for this position has the potential for remote work. Remote work is defined as working offsite that is greater than 2 hours of the Laboratory location. Reporting onsite may be periodically necessary. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Where You Will Work
Permanently located outside Las Vegas, Nevada, the NCERC-FO Organization, provides the capability to conduct hands-on and remotely operated experiments with significant quantities of nuclear material. This capability supports both critical and subcritical experiments and training. NCERC-FO provides the operational backbone for the National Criticality Experiments Research Center (NCERC). NCERC operates four criticality assemblies that can be broadly categorized as benchmark, fast-burst, and general-purpose assemblies.
These assemblies provide the capability to perform critical, subcritical, and fundamental physics measurements. NCERC is operated within a hazard category 2 nuclear facility located at the Nevada National Security Site. Our generous benefits package includes:

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
