The Richard P. Feynman Center for Innovation (FCI) Licensing and Intellectual Property team is seeking a motivated GRA applicant to assist in building intellectual property (IP) portfolios and developing commercialization strategies that help advance U.S. national security efforts in one of the following technical areas: Chemical Sciences Earth & Life Sciences | National Security | Physical Sciences | Simulation, Computation & Theory. Responsibilities for the selected candidate will entail:
- Working with scientists/principal investigators to identify, scope, and assess technology transfer opportunities. Assists with the analysis of emerging markets and intellectual property protection strategies for laboratory technologies.
- Under the direction of senior licensing staff, develop and execute marketing and communication strategies that support technology transfer and commercialization goals and objectives.
- Assist in analyzing current and emerging markets for commercialization of Laboratory technologies through research, networking, and information portals.
- Assist in drafting, negotiating, executing, and monitoring contracts, licenses, and agreements.
- Research, assemble, and/or evaluate technology development and associated product-market fit to enable the intellectual property protection and licensing processes.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Knowledge of intellectual property, patents, and copyrights.
- Ability to conduct basic marketing and intellectual property research, evaluate competitive landscapes, and identify industry trends.
- Understanding of customer relationships in private industry, universities, national laboratories, state and local governments, and/or communities.
- Ability to apply knowledge of intellectual property rights, laws, policies, and procedures in a negotiation.
- Knowledge of general business terms; general knowledge of licensing, contracts, and agreements.
Education/Experience: Currently enrolled in a master's or PhD program in engineering, the physical sciences, computer science, or another related field. Must be enrolled in 6 semester credit hours (or full-time equivalent). Must currently have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience collaborating with legal counsel to verify and validate intellectual property (IP) rights for licensing and commercialization.
- Knowledge of U.S. Federal, Department of Energy (DOE), national laboratory, and university technology transfer policies, practices, statutes, and regulations.
- Familiarity with IP and contract management systems, including tracking IP assets and linking them to associated agreements (e.g., licenses, options).
Work Location: The work location for this position is hybrid and is located in Los Alamos, NM.
Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite/partially offsite but within 2 hours ground commute of this location. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
