Los Alamos National Laboratory has an exceptional opportunity for a Division Leader to oversee the Nuclear Process Infrastructure Division (NPI-DO). Reporting to the Associate Laboratory Director for Weapons Production Chief Operating Office (ALDWP-COO), the Division Leader will provide critical technical, scientific and operational leadership to the ALDWP and LANL Mission.
As a key member of the management team, the Division Leader will be responsible for ensuring robust operational governance practices that enable successful project execution and mission achievement. The selected candidate will play a critical role in strategic planning and operational execution to advance directorate objectives related to business and operational excellence. A strong focus will be placed on fostering and maintaining collaborative relationships with key mission stakeholders through exceptional communication and customer service. This position emphasizes long-term strategic workforce and resource planning to ensure NPI is positioned to support evolving programmatic missions.
The scope of the role encompasses:
- Work Authorization and Quality Assurance: Establishing clear processes and controls for authorizing and validating all work activities to meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Human Capital Management: Overseeing the recruitment, development, and retention of a highly skilled workforce capable of delivering on the division's objectives.
- Capability Development: Continuously enhancing the division's technical and operational capabilities to address evolving mission needs and support a diverse range of defense and non-defense programs.
- Stakeholder Alignment: Fostering strong partnerships with the intra-laboratory organizations, Facility Operations Directors, construction management, other laboratories across the DOE complex and Department of Energy field elements in order to ensure alignment on priorities, requirements, and performance expectations.
- Performance Measurement: Defining and tracking meaningful metrics to assess the division's execution of critical waste and nuclear material processes, from pit production and waste management to shipping and receiving.
By excelling in these areas of operational governance, the Division Leader will be pivotal in enabling NPI to consistently achieve mission success for Los Alamos National Laboratory.

- Advanced experience managing large, complex, technical organizations to include the management and supervision of personnel, budget preparation and management, planning and tracking, project management, and leading business improvement and innovation
- Proven record of managing an organization in strategic and tactical planning, setting and achieving high quality standards and organizational goals, team building, teaming with peers, employee and program development, improvement of service delivery, communication, organization and execution of projects and deliverables
- Expert-level excellence in the leadership and management of technical projects and staff, including a record of successful teamwork and consensus building within and across organizational boundaries.
- Exemplary oral and written communication skills and ability to interact with internal customers, Laboratory organizations, management, clients (DOE, NNSA), regulators, industry and other stakeholders to prioritize work to meet customer needs. Demonstrated ability to recognize and act on opportunities to influence direction, policy and vision using these skills
- Advanced experience conducting sound business practices and promoting objectives in the following areas: performance improvement, safety, quality, security, environment, health, and human resources.
- Advance level knowledge of safety and security, environmental, quality and regulatory requirements needed to manage work in a nuclear facility.

Nuclear Facility: Advanced knowledge of safety and security, environmental and quality regulatory requirements needed to manage work in a nuclear and/or high hazard facility.
DOE: This position is subject to the requirements of DOE 426.2
Education/Experience: Position requires a bachelor's degree, from an accredited institution, in a relevant field of study and 15 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Master's degree or Ph.D. in relevant field of study is desired.

- Knowledge of LANL's technical and manufacturing portfolios and an understanding of how they broadly support LANL's national security science mission areas.

- Demonstrated experience leading and developing strategic plans to include establishing, monitoring and reporting on performance metrics.
- Demonstrated experience with Staff Planning and Training programs.

Clearance: An active DOE Q-Clearance and HRP certification.
Work Schedule: This position oversees 24/7 operations and may occasionally require work outside of first shift schedule,
Work Environment: Frequent use of safety glasses or eye protection, safety shoes or protective footgear, hearing protection, radiological facilities requiring dosimetry.

Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.
426.2: This position is subject to DOE Order 426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities, which establishes entry-level requirements to ensure candidates selected for specific positions can successfully perform the requirements of the job.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Incentive Compensation Program: Position is eligible to participate in the Triad Incentive Compensation Program. You must be in an eligible position for a minimum of 3 months, before July 1st and remain in an eligible position as of the end of the fiscal year, September 30th. The annual distribution is prorated based on the number of months in the eligible position.
