Do you enjoy improving complex operations, solving organizational challenges, and helping mission-critical work succeed? Are you energized by bringing people, processes, and programs together to deliver results? If so, consider joining the Weapons Facility Operations (WFO) Division as Operations Specialist 3.
WFO supports the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of facilities across Weapons Engineering. In this role, you will collaborate with professionals supporting High Explosives facilities, the Dual-Axis Radiographic Hydrodynamic Test (DARHT) facility, and the Weapons Engineering Tritium Facility (WETF). This broad exposure will provide opportunities to expand your expertise in operational excellence, readiness, process improvement, and program integration while strengthening your ability to lead initiatives across organizational boundaries.
As an Operations Specialist 3, you will:
- Lead operational and programmatic processes from planning through execution, ensuring work is completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with requirements.
- Develop, review, and improve procedures, readiness documentation, operational workflows, and administrative controls that enable successful mission execution.
- Coordinate planning activities including scheduling, resource planning, budgeting, procurement support, and performance tracking.
- Lead and support assessments, investigations, corrective actions, and process improvement initiatives to strengthen organizational performance.
- Apply DOE orders, Laboratory policies, and institutional requirements to operational programs, documentation, and business processes.
- Support document control, records management, training, qualification, and readiness activities to ensure compliance and traceability.
- Coordinate across organizations, prepare reports and briefings, and provide management with the information needed to make informed operational decisions.
- You will join a collaborative team that values initiative, customer service, and continuous improvement. You'll work with facility personnel, engineers, operations professionals, program leaders, and management to solve complex problems and improve how work gets done. As you build experience across WFO's diverse mission areas, you'll have opportunities to take on increasingly complex initiatives, broaden your operational leadership experience, and contribute to improvements that extend across the division.
To be successful in this role, you should enjoy bringing structure to complex work, building productive relationships, and finding practical solutions to operational challenges. You should be comfortable working independently, influencing outcomes without direct authority, and balancing multiple priorities while maintaining a strong commitment to quality and mission success.
