Infrastructure Service Division is seeking an energetic and customer-focused Database Administrator for the ISD Institutional Services (ISD-IS) group. The group is organized institutional support that focuses on supporting unclassified and classified institutional and mission support needs, and a technical services group that manages enterprise services for Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). This position is within Institutional Services (IS) and is part of the Oracle DBA team. The technologies supported by this team require continuous availability (24/7), and team members are expected to demonstrate a high level of professionalism, reliability, and operational efficiency.
This position will be filled at either the Database Administrator 2 or Database Administrator 3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
Database Administrator 2 ($87,800- $143,000)
A seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of Oracle Database Administration plus working knowledge of MS Windows and Linux, Oracle SQL, Oracle PL/SQL. At the Database Administrator 2 level, the selected candidate will resolve a wide range of Oracle Database Administration issues in creative ways.
Database Administrator 3 ($106,400 - $176,000)
In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, at this level the selected candidate will have wide-ranging experience, use professional concepts, and company objectives to resolve complex Oracle Database Administration issues in creative and effective ways, plus a working knowledge of MS Windows and Linux, Oracle SQL, Oracle PL/SQL. Frequently contribute to the development of new theories and methods of Oracle Database Administration. Considered expert in field within the organization.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Technical Expertise
- Hands-on experience as a physical database administrator (DBA), including installation, configuration, upgrades, maintenance, patching, performance tuning, backup, and recovery of Oracle databases (version 19c or newer) on both MS Windows and Linux platforms.
- Demonstrated expertise in writing Oracle SQL queries and developing PL/SQL scripts to support automation and operational efficiency.
Collaboration
- Proven ability to work collaboratively, including active participation in team or institutional communities of practice.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet tight deadlines, and achieve goals while effectively collaborating across teams, business units, and the broader organization.
Additional Requirements for Database Administrator 3
In addition to the qualifications listed above:
- Experience writing and maintaining MS Windows command-line scripts is required.
Education/ Experience at lower level:
Database Administrator 2:
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree and 4 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Education/Experience at higher level:
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level post-graduate coursework may be desirable.
Desired Qualifications:
- Active DOE L or Q clearance, or equivalent, transferable clearance.
- Experience writing and maintaining MS Windows command line scripts.
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 Year.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance, and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
