What You Will Do

Detonator Production (DP) is seeking a talented team member to manage vaults and classified parts. The successful candidate will:
  • Manage unclassified, WIP, classified, and hazardous parts inventory on the manufacturing floor.
  • Perform audits of custody transfers and control data.
  • Conduct routine chemical and security asset inventories on the manufacturing floor.
  • Work with customers to manage footprint requests.
  • Support vault physical security assessments.
  • Coordinate the disposal of legacy and unneeded items.

Success in this role requires effective teamwork, communication, organization, planning, and prioritization skills.

The DP Division is the premier Production Agency (PA) responsible for producing War Reserve (WR) detonators in support of the nation's nuclear stockpile security mission. It is part of LANL's Weapons Production Directorate and comprises a highly motivated team of technical and operational staff working in an integrated manufacturing environment. The division emphasizes precision, safety, and reliability in WR production and partners closely with key stakeholders including the NNSA, design agencies (LANL, Sandia, and Livermore), and LANL program management.

The selected candidate must maintain positive working relationships and collaborate effectively across technical organizations within the Associate Laboratory Directorate of Weapons Production (ALDWP), including manufacturing, engineering, and program management, as well as with internal and external customers.

This Position will be filled at either the level 1 or level 2 position depending on qualifications.

  • Performance Tracking: Experience in project-oriented environments involving performance monitoring and progress tracking.
  • Applications: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Time Management: Ability to allocate time efficiently to complete assigned tasks on schedule.
  • Organization: Strong skills in managing multiple concurrent tasks, particularly those involving large datasets.

  • Organization: Strong skills in managing multiple concurrent tasks, particularly those involving large datasets.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience managing classified and hazardous materials using secure inventory systems.
  • Experience with Material Requirements Planning (MRP), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), or work control database systems.
  • Experience managing security assets, chemicals, and hazardous materials.
  • CMC custodian qualifications and prior experience managing vaults.

Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
