Robotics Portfolio Program Manager 3

What You Will Do


Join our Team! The Automation, Robotics and Controls (E-3) Group is seeking an experienced Program Manager to partner with our experts on a diverse set of national security programs, mainly focused on robotics and drone technologies. You will manage the overall robotics and drone research operations portfolio, which includes multiple milestones. You will be responsible for coordinating customer input and work package creation, manage and allocate resources, track deliverables, oversee budget and maintain and communicate status of program milestones to all stakeholders. You will create planning documents, reports and presentations to facilitate those discussions. You will also be responsible for maintaining and creating external relationships which could include university contracts.

E-3 is LANL's premier organization dedicated to the research and development of innovative autonomous and semi-autonomous robotics augmentation technologies. E-3 is responsible for the design, development, and field support of data acquisition systems, process control systems, machine control systems, robotics, and safety systems. Our capabilities are integral to the weapons mission and for non-weapons applications. E-3 is a diverse, full support mechanical, electrical, and process controls engineering services group. What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:


Program Management

Working knowledge and experience in program management, including defining program work scope, schedules, budgets, priorities, and performance milestones; developing cost, scope and schedule baselines; reporting cost and schedule variance; and managing change control and risk.

Technical Acumen

The ability to understand technical concepts related to the assigned portfolio(s) and working knowledge of regulatory requirements related to programmatic work within the program.

Personal Leadership

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet schedules and deliverables for multiple concurrent projects with a range of priorities.


Communication

Strong interpersonal communication skills and written communication skills with demonstrated experience preparing presentations, graphs and reports used for managing stakeholder interface. Ability to serve as the primary spokesperson to report status, manage expectations and inform stakeholders of any issues.


Collaboration

Successfully demonstrated experience in developing and nurturing effective customer relationships. Successfully demonstrated experience with all levels of personnel; building trust, gaining consensus and resolving conflicts.

Training/Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is preferred.

Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 8 years of directly related program management experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience and familiarity with LANL finance and program management policies, processes and procedures.
  • Technical knowledge of robotics and drone technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams to execute time- critical tasks.
  • Demonstrated experience in researching alternatives and recommending solutions to problems affecting programmatic and operational challenges.
  • Active DOE Q clearance, which normally requires US citizenship.

Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
