The Product Realization and Reliability Office (PRRO) consists of a multidisciplinary group of engineers and scientists that support plutonium programs (i.e., pit production, surveillance, research & development, and subcritical experiments) across the entire Nuclear Production portfolio.
PRRO is seeking candidates for undergraduate student positions to contribute to the organization's mission of continuously improving the safety, quality, productivity, and agility of plutonium manufacturing operations as part of the Applied Engineering Analysis team.
The responsibilities of the selected candidate will include:
- Applying engineering principles, practices, and tools to continuously improve manufacturing processes.
- Contributing to the successful completion of technical projects by assisting in the design, analysis, verification, validation, and implementation of practical engineering solutions.
- Assisting in the writing of technical documents and presenting technical work at internal and external meetings, seminars, and conferences.
- Prioritizing safety and security in executing all work tasks.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate degree program in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Must be enrolled in at least 12 semester credit hours (or full-time equivalent).
- Must currently have and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).
- Intermediate knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and tools as demonstrated by experience in research, design, analysis, verification, and validation activities.
- Intermediate analytical thinking skills, including demonstrated experience in the analysis, manipulation, and interpretation of data.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality results in a timely manner.
Desired Qualifications:
- Proficiency in computer programming, preferably in broadly used, general-purpose programming languages (e.g., C/C++, Python, or MATLAB).
- Application of advanced mathematical methods to develop models for engineering applications.
- Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA) and FEA commercial software packages.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate (verbal and written) well in a professional scientific context; and Commitment to achieving results in a complex social and organizational setting.
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
