What You Will Do
The work we do at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) matters to our country and the world! The Innovative Customer Experience (ICE) Division is looking for a dynamic leader. We are looking for a Senior Azure Cloud Architect with a strong background in government projects and expertise in both Azure Government and commercial Azure environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with OpenAI technologies, Azure Purview, CoPilot, Sentinel, ML Studio, AI Studio, and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) strategies.
ICE division consists of more than 350 talented Solution Architects, Computer Systems Professionals, and Computer System Technician employees who provide the varied Laboratory organizations with Information Technology experts who design, build, and support their mission-driven technical needs, on the unclassified and classified networks through several different service touchpoints. In addition, optimize the use of information technology, ensure seamless delivery and operation of IT services by monitoring system performance, applying configuration management practices, creating processes and standards for selection and implementation.

Position requires a bachelor's degree and 12 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:
Work Location: The work location for this position has the potential for remote work. Remote work is defined as working offsite that is greater than 2 hours of the Laboratory location. Reporting onsite may be periodically necessary. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position 1 Year.

What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Experience building from azure landing zones from design to production.
- Proficient in Azure services including Virtual Machines, Storage Accounts, Databases, Azure Networking, and App Services.
- Experience in Azure Cloud Architecture and being able to develop comprehensive cloud solutions that leverage Azure Services.
- Experience creating and implementing Azure cloud architectures that meet security and compliance standards while utilizing both Azure Government and/or commercial Azure services.
- Ability to integrate and implement OpenAI, Machine Learning, Data Governance, Data Loss Prevention and other Azure services into existing frameworks effectively.
Education/Experience:
Position requires a bachelor's degree and 12 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:
- Mentorship: Provide guidance to junior architects and developers on best practices in cloud architecture.
- Strong understanding of DevSecOps and Platform Engineering with experience in IaC (infrastructure of code) standards.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Cloud Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solution Architect Expert or related credentials.
