Biomedical Sciences Post-Baccalaureate Intern

The Medical Countermeasures (MCM) team within the Physical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy (C-PCS) group with the Chemistry Division is seeking a well-rounded recent post-bachelor's degree graduate to join their team. The MCM team works on the development of medical countermeasures that include diagnostics, vaccines, and therapeutics.
The student will act as a representative for the MCM team by reporting research results back to the team at meetings and keeping official laboratory notebooks. In addition, the student will be encouraged to attend seminars that interest them and will be provided with networking opportunities within the lab.

What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Willingness to work with potentially hazardous biological materials.
- Experience with molecular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA extractions, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), gel electrophoresis, and/or others.
- Proven ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Demonstrated experience and familiarity with good laboratory practices.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with a strong publication record.
- Proven ability to manage time and see tasks to completion.
- Proven ability to produce quality work by applying attention to detail.
- Demonstrated competency with computers and software applications for word processing, data processing and data visualization.
Education/Experience:
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in immunology, microbiology, biology, biochemistry or related technical field obtained at the time of hire or within the past three years, and not yet been accepted or enrolled in a graduate program. Must have cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).
Desired Qualifications:
The ideal candidate would have interest in immunology, molecular biology or microbiology, and experience with techniques such as flow cytometry, FPLC, ELISA, bacterial culture and handling, mammalian tissue culture and handling but not required.
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Work Schedule: Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.
