Minimum Job Requirements:
Communication planning & execution
We want someone who has serious chops as a communicator and project manager: great with words; excellent judgment; and able to work as a full partner with leadership to assess challenges and create and execute multi-channel communication campaigns that achieve specific and measurable goals.
Executive communication
You should have some experience working with executive-level leaders on a wide variety of projects and products. You should understand how to capture an executive's "voice" and be able to create successful communication materials - such as quotes or correspondence - without significant oversight.
Web-based & multimedia strategy
We're looking for someone who has a track record of taking communications to the next level by strategically integrating multimedia content - photos, video, and graphics - into campaigns that reach any audience where they are and drive results.
Education/experience
You will need a bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or another related field and a minimum of eight years of relevant experience.
Minimum Job Requirements at the Higher Level:
Advanced editing and writing skill
In order to qualify at the Communications Specialist 4 level, you must have demonstrated advanced skill in writing or editing content for web and journalism-style publications
Extensive communications planning experience
A Communications Specialist 4 will have demonstrated extensive experience leading complex communications campaigns and initiatives and expertise at successfully managing all parts of story development and securing approvals in a complex, multifacted review environment.
Education/experience
The minimum requirements to be hired at Communications Specialist 4 include a bachelor's degree and 12 years of relevant experience.
Desired Qualifications:
Speechwriting
Experience with executive speechwriting and creating C-suite presentations would be a plus.
National lab/NNSA experience
Experience working at a national lab or similar environment - whether in industry or government - is strongly desired but not required for the position.
Q clearance
All candidates must be able to secure a Q clearance. Applicants who already hold a Q clearance will be able to hit the ground running sooner and are strongly desired.

Work Location: The work location for this position is hybrid and is located in Los Alamos, NM. Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite/partially offsite but within 2 hours ground commute of this location. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
