This position will be filled at either the Computer and Information Security Specialist level 1 or 2, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
The Computer & Information Security Specialist 1/2 position is responsible for supporting both the Apollo and Lenel Administrative Access Control Systems for the SO-SS group. SO-SS provides technical support for the administrative badge reader and the security badge reader systems at the Laboratory. While working with the Administrative Access Control System (AACS) Team, the selected applicant shall become fully proficient in maintaining host servers, computer workstations, fabricating, installing, testing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems and equipment for the Administrative Access Control Systems. The Computer and Information Security Specialist 1/2 will also learn to troubleshoot issues, and repair computer systems in a field environment or office environment. The selected applicant may work independently at the oversight of the Team Leader or along with a team depending on the project or trouble tickets.
Computer & Information Security Specialist 1 ($69,500 - $110,300)
The successful candidate will:
At this level, your responsibilities will include maintaining and testing the AACS host servers for two access control systems, Apollo and Lenel. Assist with troubleshooting and performing daily checks on both Apollo and Lenel systems. Work with MS office suite-Visio, Work, Excel, and PowerPoint. Assist in maintaining the integrity of computer workstations, servers, and local area networks by maintaining user accounts and upgrading systems and software. Work towards a common goal with the administrators and technicians in a team environment.
Computer & Information Security Specialist 2 ($83,900 - $136,600)
In addition to the duties outlined above, the Computer & Information Security Specialist 2 will be required to maintain and test the AACS networks, host computers and peripheral IT equipment; performing daily checks of the system; working with MS Office suite-Visio, Word, Excel and PowerPoint; maintaining the integrity of the computer workstations, servers, and local area networks by maintaining user accounts; and upgrading systems hardware and software. Work will be conducted alone and in a team environment.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Computer and Information Security Specialist 1:
- Proficient in MS Office suite - Visio, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex operational computer and network systems.
- Experience and knowledge of network administration.
- Knowledge and recent Windows and Server Operating Systems experience at a System Administrator Level.
- Knowledge Microsoft Active Directory.
- Understanding of and limited working experience with Ethernet communications and Serial communications and experience Storage Area Networks (SANs).
- Ability to read network and construction/installation drawings.
Computer & Information Security Specialist 2 :
- Knowledge of Windows and Server at a System Administrator Level
- Knowledge of C++, C#, Java and .NET
- Database/query skills and SQL Server 2008/2012/2016
- Experience in procuring computer hardware and ability to manage the installation, configuration, and maintenance of associated computer hardware, computer workstations, servers, and local area networks by maintaining user accounts and upgrading systems and software
- Knowledge of VMware VSphere 6.x, VMware horizon View, Windows 10
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with IT security principles and best practices.
Computer and Information Security Specialist 1 Education Required: Position requires a minimum of 2 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Computer and Information Security Specialist 2 Education Required: Position typically requires a bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the Laboratory's computer and information security policies, practices, and procedures.
- Knowledge and/or experience with the Apollo or Lenel Access Control systems.
- Knowledge and/or experience working with Digital Command Language (DCL).
- Working knowledge of IP Networking.
- Knowledge and/or experience with Oracle Data Base Administration.
- Active Q clearance

Work Environment: Working alone, working overtime or irregular schedule, working outdoors in a widely ranging ambient temperatures.
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
Clearance: Q/SCI (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Incentive Compensation Program: Position is eligible to participate in the Triad Incentive Compensation Program. You must be in an eligible position for a minimum of 3 months, before July 1st and remain in an eligible position as of the end of the fiscal year, September 30th. The annual distribution is prorated based on the number of months in the eligible position.
