Detonator Production (DP) Division is the premier Production Agency (PA) assigned to produce War Reserve (WR) detonators for the Nation's nuclear stockpile security mission. The Division is part of LANL's Weapons Production Directorate (ALDWP). DP is comprised of a team of motivated, highly skilled technical and operational support staff working in an integrated format. The organization is centered on high-rigor manufacturing operations to produce precision, safe and reliable WR products. DP partners closely with customers and stakeholders such as NNSA (National Nuclear Security Administration), Design Agencies (LANL, Sandia, and Livermore), and LANL program management orgs to deliver on challenging National security objectives. DP upholds vigorous teamwork, personal integrity, respectful workplace, and continuous improvement in operations, technical excellence, safety and security.
DP is seeking a highly qualified candidate to be the Group Leader for the Production Planning, Control and Supply Chain group (DP-5). The DP-5 Group Leader will report to the DP Division Leader to ensure timely delivery of the highest quality detonation products and services to our customers. DP-5's portfolio within the DP enterprise includes:
• Production planning and control to meet customer milestones and deliverables, ensuring work authorization is effectively integrated across the Division to meet production commitments, producing efficient manufacturing floor schedules, and monitoring production metrics to ensure performance. The DP-5 Group Leader is expected to be a key steward in the Division work authorization processes through a team of highly capable DP-5 Production planners.
• Supply Chain Management of Mark Quality and Non-Mark Quality materials which includes manufacturing equipment through a team of highly capable DP-5 procurement professionals. This function includes oversight of DP-5's off-site warehouse for storage of process materials.
• Managing the Secure Operations Management System (SOMS) system, enabled by a team of highly proficient DP-5 code developers to meet the manufacturing requirements product data capture for product sale and quality verification.
As the foundation and central focus of manufacturing business operations, DP-5 will foster a collaborative culture in support of the Nation's Nuclear Security Enterprise by empowering employees to develop innovative solutions while meeting safety, security, and quality standards.

Advanced supervisory experience with an excellent and demonstrable record of successful team building, collaboration, and leadership in a challenging manufacturing environment. Knowledge of, and demonstrated successful experience in, management, supervision, mentorship, and professional development of employees.
Personal Leadership:
Excellent organizational skills and a proven ability to independently establish priorities while working effectively under pressure, as well as managing various projects and executing complex operational and business assignments to achieve the desired results.
Communication:
Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of management and personnel, including negotiating, influencing, conflict resolution, consensus building, oral presentation, and written communications. Demonstrated experience in developing and nurturing effective working relationships with customers.
Problem Solving:
Advanced experience in effective decision-making and creative problem-solving including skills in researching and recommending alternative solutions to problems. Expert knowledge of, and successfully demonstrated experience in, developing, implementing, and managing innovation and process improvements.
Operational Experience:
Knowledge and experience with developing and executing planning, scheduling, and work release functions for complex and challenging production builds, ensuring alignment with peer groups and key stakeholders to maintain customer quality and on-time delivery as the top priorities. Knowledge and experience with Supply Chain policies and practices for mark quality and non-mark quality materials. Manage work packages to ensure resources are available to maintain critical PPC functions, and to make resources available for scope adjustments and future capabilities.
Education/Experience:
Position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution and 8 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the Weapons production life cycle and the relationship between Design Agencies and Production Agencies.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with ERP / MRP / MES software systems administration and use as it relates to production planning, scheduling, and control. Knowledge and experience of WR procurement and materials supply chain process.
- Knowledge and experience in the area of operations management in a manufacturing environment.
- Advanced knowledge of the Laboratory's organizational structure and implementing policies, procedures, and instructions.
- Demonstrated proficiency in multiple laboratory-wide systems and applications to include Oracle, Concur, and computer software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Familiarity with NNSA Weapon Quality Policy NAP 401.1A or similar quality standards is highly desired.
- Familiarity with policies for managing classified information
- Active Q Clearance.
Work Location: The work location for this position is on-site and is located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Incentive Compensation Program: Position is eligible to participate in the Triad Incentive Compensation Program. You must be in an eligible position for a minimum of 3 months, before July 1st and remain in an eligible position as of the end of the fiscal year, September 30th. The annual distribution is prorated based on the number of months in the eligible position.
