Postdoc opening for outdoor filamentation and air waveguiding
- Req. Number: IRC134155
- Organization : C-PCS/Physical Chem & Applied Spectroscopy
- City, State: Los Alamos, New Mexico
We are looking for outstanding candidates to fill multiple openings for experimental postdoctoral research associate positions in application of nonlinear optics and related phenomena toward remote sensing and spectroscopy. The postdoc projects comprise a multidisciplinary collaboration between scientists spanning several divisions at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) as well as partner institutions. The candidate will additionally engage with the larger, diverse team of LANL scientists and external collaborators. The successful candidate(s) will design and conduct indoor standoff sensing and spectroscopy employing air waveguiding using ultrafast laser systems and participate in outdoor, remote-scale implementation of this technology. The candidate will navigate various spectroscopic techniques, such as laser-induced breakdown, ultraviolet-visible, and infrared/Raman/vibrational spectroscopies. The candidate will be expected to operate and maintain multiple high-power/intense, short-pulse and ultrafast laser systems on a daily basis.
