Software Quality Engineer 2 ($92,300 - $151,000)

As a Software Quality Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our software products meet the highest standards of quality and reliability. You will work closely with weapons production personnel and development support staff to develop and execute requirement specifications, design specifications and test plans. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring software not only meets but exceeds user expectations as well as meet compliance requirements.

Software Quality Engineer 3 ($101,700 - $168,200)

In addition to the duties outlined above, the Software Quality Engineer 3 will serve as the project manager for various IT projects across the Production Assurance portfolio. You will also support software assessments in all areas of software engineering and support continuous improvements to program processes and procedures.

  • Quality Assurance: Advanced knowledge of software quality assurance and configuration management principles.
  • Work Location: The work location for this position is hybrid and is located in Los Alamos, NM. Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite/partially offsite but within 2 hours ground commute of this location. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.

In addition to the above, the Software Quality Engineer 3 must have the following:
  • Technical knowledge: Advanced knowledge to conceptualize and communicate major elements of software quality/software engineering to both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Quality Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of and demonstrated experience in the software verification and validation processes.
  • Project Management: Advanced experience with software project management and software project monitoring and control.
  • Systems Requirements: Advanced experience with developing system requirements, software requirements specifications and functional interfaces between system software components and the system-level design.

Education requirements for Software Quality Eng. 2: Position requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field and 5 year of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. occupation.

Education requirements for Software Quality Eng. 3: Position requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field and 8 year of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications
  • Quality Assessments: Knowledge of and demonstrated experience in performing quality assessments, surveillances, and/or audits in all areas of software quality assurance and/or engineering.
  • Quality Standards: Knowledge of and experience in the areas of quality assurance regulatory, contractual, and technical documents, i.e., DOE Order 414.1D, 10 CRF 830, Weapons Quality Policy (NAP-401.1) and NQA-1.
  • Quality Assurance: Knowledge of and demonstrated experience in the implementation of LANL contract requirements relevant to software quality assurance and cyber security activities.
  • Certification: A recognized, relative industry certification in project management or software quality inspection/assurance such as PMI's PMP certification and/or ASQ's CSQE certification.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems desirable.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
