This position will be filled at either the Systems Analyst 2/Systems Analyst 3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate(s). Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
The Production Support Services (PSS-1) group is seeking highly motivated candidates to fill the position of Systems Analyst working within the PSS-1 Manufacturing Management Systems Team. As a selected candidate, you will provide support for a wide-range of systems using professional concepts and objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. You will contribute to the development of new theories and methods to solve complex issues related to systems management. You will work to maintain the operation and implement new software for the Manufacturing Management Systems (MMS) conglomerate. Current systems include but are not limited to Oracle Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP), iBASEt Solumina Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Electronic Sales Package (ESP), and Digital Data Acquisition (DDA) and Oracle Production Scheduling (OPS). The systems are used for the production, planning, collection of quality data, and electronic sales of product. Selected candidates will develop the highest level of proficiency in all MMS systems requiring a high level of skill and knowledge. You will serve as system Superusers (Manufacturing System Analysts) responsible for troubleshooting and problem solving in support of weapons production use of the MRP and MES systems. You will be expected to provide a high level of interaction with both internal and external customers, including Functional Users, Database Administrators (DBAs), Technical Application Administrators (TAAs), and System Administrators.
Systems Analyst 2 ($83,900 - $136,600)
At the Systems Analyst 2 level, you will apply demonstrated experience while providing support for a wide range of systems, to include but not limited to MRP, MES, ESP, and DDA systems. You will serve as a Superuser responsible for troubleshooting and problem solving issues that arise within the systems. You will work closely with the customers to ensure you provide excellent customer service support. You will interact on a daily basis with Functional Users, Software Developers, DBAs, TAAs, and System Admins. Additional tasks will be assigned as new features and enhancements are requested and developed for the systems. You will be expected to accomplish work assigned under moderate supervision and direction.
Systems Analyst 3 ($101,700 - $168,200)
At the Systems Analyst 3 level, you will perform the same work duties as outlined above for a Systems Analyst 2, but at a more advanced knowledge and experienced level. At this level, you will be expected to accomplish work assigned under minimal supervision and direction.

Computing Skills/Business Systems
The Systems Analyst 2 should have working knowledge of manufacturing software applications including system architectures and network infrastructures. Moderate skills in documenting system requirements and customer specifications. Should be able to demonstrate and understanding functional interfaces between system software components and the system-level design. Systems Analyst 2 should be familiar with software configuration management best practices as it relates to manufacturing software. This would include software design concepts, software maintenance best practices and user documentation as it relates to testing and verifying functionality, especially software testing that ensures the requirements specification, design, and coding of software adequately fulfills all intended functions. Be able to partner with customers, review and understand end-to-end work and related manufacturing processes and translate technical terms to layperson's terms and present them to audiences outside of the technical team. Demonstrate experience with common desktop applications (MS Word, Excel, Teams etc.), record of adherence to manufacturing policies, programs, procedures, and working knowledge of Manufacturing Systems (i.e. MRP, MES, SAP). Expressed knowledge of software quality assurance, cyber security requirements, and the implementation of software systems. Experience with application administration, system analysis as well as hardware and software integration and testing. Be able to demonstrate knowledge of application software development lifecycle frameworks and methodologies and their related tools and techniques, along with software risk management.
Critical Thinking
Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions for problems affecting computer and information security. Experience and demonstrated skill in analyzing processes for improvement and applying the results of such analytical efforts, preferably in a manufacturing environment
Communication
Experience and demonstrated skill with interpersonal, written, and verbal communications. Demonstrated experience with planning and executing to defined due dates, documenting actions completed, providing status on actions completed and completing all work tasks independently with minimal error.
Demonstrated ability to network effectively with other administrators and key contacts outside own area of expertise, both internal and external to the organization.
Customer Service
Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to provide clear, concise support and guidance to others in sometimes-stressful situations. Experience interacting professionally with all types of personnel, including external interfaces and executive management.
Organizational Skills
Possess high attention to detail including strong organizational skills, analytical thinking, observational skills and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to multi-task and adjust to the workings of a dynamic environment.
Personal Leadership
Demonstrated record of strong tactical decision-making. Demonstrated ability to calmly manage frequent interruptions and changing priorities; complete assignments without established procedures; be available, dependable, and punctual.
Education and Experience for Systems Analyst 2: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field and 4 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Postgraduate degree in related field may serve as years of related experience.
Clearance: Ability to obtain a DOE "Q" clearance
Systems Analyst 3
In addition to the Job Requirements outlined above, qualification at the Systems Analyst 3 level requires:
Advanced Production Knowledge
Advanced knowledge of production operational systems and methods, applications of production planning methods, and application of technology aided systems and tools for high-quality production processes and products. Knowledge of Web-based technologies including maintenance and Web-based tools and utilities.
Configuration management
Broad knowledge of configuration management, change control, and release management processes.
Education and Experience for Systems Analyst 3: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field and 8 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Postgraduate degree in related field may serve as years of related experience.
Desired Qualifications:
Additional Education and Training
- CPIM Training and/or APICS certification
- SCRUM Master or demonstrated experience with SCRUM Framework
- Experience in Digital Manufacturing
- System Superuser Experience or Data Management for Manufacturing Facility
- Lean Six Sigma Certification Green Belt or Black Belt
LANL Specific: Knowledge of Laboratory structure, policies and procedures such as LANL procurement, LANL domestic and foreign travel; and/or LANL vault custodian duties.
Clearance: Active DOE "Q" clearance
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. *Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law.
