The Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) Safeguards Deployed Security Group (SAFE-DS) is looking for motivated security professionals who are eager to learn and are able to capitalize on new opportunities. You will be instrumental in helping to maintain the safety and security of the Laboratory's Category 1 nuclear facility, the most secure LANL area, by preventing unauthorized access using automated access control systems. Working in a fast-paced, high-visibility, and high-stakes environment you will need to have a keen eye for detail, need to maintain a positive customer-focused attitude, and need the ability to learn various software applications. As you become more familiar with your position you will have the opportunity to grow and learn more about the exciting mission work that occurs at the nuclear facility.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience with security concepts and best practices.
- Demonstrated experience with data management demonstrating attention to detail.
- Demonstrated experience identifying opportunities for process improvements.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve database and/or data problems in a timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to act tactfully and professionally with customers as well as peers.
- Demonstrated experience conducting system audits with regard to access permissions, ensuring data is accurate.
- Demonstrated ability working in a fast-paced environment.
Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management, or Security related field and 2 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working at a Category 1 nuclear facility.
- Experience with Argus, Apollo, and UTrain
- Experience with LANL and DOE security policies and procedures.
- Active HRP/DOE Q clearance.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
