They will plan and schedule detailed phases of engineering work, resolve design and coordination issues, prepare specifications and evaluations, conduct technical research, and use sound judgment to develop effective solutions that meet project and customer needs. The role involves developing, coordinating, and managing architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing BIM models across multidisciplinary projects; conducting clash detection and constructability reviews; and applying expert knowledge of Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Autodesk Vault, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and related tools. Candidates will integrate LiDAR scan data to enhance model accuracy and asset tracking, support the development of BIM standards, execution plans, templates, and digital asset libraries, and facilitate data visualization to ensure BIM information supports operations and maintenance requirements. They will coordinate with engineers, designers, clients, and contractors to ensure alignment with engineering policies and Laboratory standards while supporting project planning, design coordination, and technical problem solving. Additional responsibilities may include mentoring staff, supporting project controls and estimates, and contributing to continuous improvement of digital workflows. A successful candidate will foster a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative working environment and uphold Laboratory expectations for safety, security, and compliance.
Engineering Technologist 4 $114,700 - $191,200
At this higher level, successful candidates will lead the advancement and Lab wide adoption of BIM methodologies, standards, workflows, and digital lifecycle integration processes while providing technical leadership and mentorship to BIM modelers, technologists, and multidisciplinary contributors. They will spearhead development of integrated digital twin environments that connect BIM data with engineering, operations, and facility management systems, and will oversee LiDAR scanning operations, data processing, and incorporation strategies. Candidates at this level will independently plan and execute detailed phases of engineering work, lead efforts addressing complex or unique technical challenges requiring advanced insight, and develop new methods, techniques, and solutions across related disciplines. Responsibilities also include coordinating multidisciplinary engineering efforts with clients, suppliers, contractors, and internal partners, and providing technical oversight for both their own work and the work of others. In addition, they will develop and refine BIM execution plans, quality control processes, and audit mechanisms to ensure compliance and improve deliverable quality; identify and implement emerging digital engineering technologies to enhance efficiency and model intelligence; and serve as a subject matter resource for BIM related technical challenges. This level demands significant independent judgment in determining design approaches, solving complex problems, setting priorities, and driving workflow improvements.
