Are you skilled at building relationships and navigating complex obstacles? Do you have a knack for organization and coordination of stakeholder needs? If so, we want you to apply to our ISR Facilities Coordinator position with the Intelligence and Space Research (ISR) Division!
As the ISR Facilities Coordinator you will be part of the Division operations team. Key responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Utilize effective communication skills to build and foster relationships with all stakeholders (STO-FOD, Engineering Services, Craft, ISR Group Leaders, lab PICs, Project Leaders and staff members) to maximize ISR facility improvements, especially those which impact ISR staff safety and security.
- Manage Facility Service Request (FSR) prioritization in coordination with programmatic activity schedules. This will require knowledge of programmatic work in ISR as well as an understanding of how local facilities function in order to determine a thoughtful solution to a problem.
- Track status on active FSRs weekly, support new FSR submissions, lead New Activity Reviews (NAR) and PRID submissions.
- Coordinate with individual groups/programs and the ISR Division office to plan and execute office/lab assignments and renovations.
- Management of the division-wide database of Integrated Work Documents (IWDs) and act as the main interface between ISR and the Facility Operations Specialist to ensure hazardous work is addressed and approved in a timely manner.
ISR Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory has been designing, building, and operating highly innovative ground, air and space-based measurement and detection systems for nearly 60 years. We solve some of the most challenging scientific and national security problems facing the world today. Our interdisciplinary teams of engineers, technicians, and scientists work, learn, and succeed through a highly creative and dynamic R&D environment. We build, fly, operate, and analyze data from measurement systems deployed to space for verification of international nuclear treaties, and develop innovative sensors and ground, airborne and space hardware/software systems for basic scientific missions, nuclear nonproliferation, space situational awareness and remote sensing. In addition, we lead experiments on NASA missions, including the Curiosity and Perseverance Mars Rovers, Van Allen Probes, Mars Odyssey, and IBEX.

Proven excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and listening skills. Proven ability to interact effectively with people in multiple organizations and in partnership with management and support organizations internal to ISR. Proven history of collaborating effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds, ages, and skill sets. Expert-level experience working effectively independently and in a team.
Organization and Time Management
Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and follow-through to completion on multiple tasks, often under strict deadlines, with frequent interruptions, and changing priorities in a dynamic and fluid working environment. Demonstrated record of dependability, availability, attendance, and punctuality.
Education/Experience: Requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 8 years of directly related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of and in-depth experience with facility, mechanical, and/or electrical maintenance and renovation management. Familiar with the Laboratory's facility maintenance policies, practices, and procedures.
- Integrated Work Management (IWM) is required for work at LANL. The candidate should be familiar with the IWM process to identify safety, environmental, & security requirements, working with the PICs and RLMs, to develop, steward, and review, and track the IWDs for the ISR Division.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in the resolution of complex issues.
- Expert level ability to organize, prioritize, and follow through with completion of multiple tasks with strict deadlines, frequent interruptions, and changing priorities in a dynamic and fluid working environment.
- Exemplary planning and time management skills.
- Demonstrated success developing and implementing process improvements of a sizeable scale.
- Demonstrated mentoring skills.
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
