LANL is seeking a collaborative and strategic leader to guide the Business Systems and Technology (BST) Group within the Controller Division. The BST Group supports more than 60 enterprise applications, platforms, and tools-many of them customized or legacy-and plays a vital role in maintaining and advancing the Laboratory's financial infrastructure.
In this high-visibility leadership role, you will work in close partnership with Controller leadership and stakeholders across finance, IT, and other institutional functions to strengthen service delivery, optimize systems, and support the Laboratory's evolving business strategy. You will lead a team of 15+ professionals, building on their existing strengths while creating greater cohesion, clarity, and impact. The successful candidate will bring the technical insight, people leadership, and strategic mindset needed to modernize systems, reduce technical debt, and enhance cross-functional collaboration.

Key Focus Areas:
- Assess and strengthen the BST Group's team structure, capabilities, and workflows to align with a high-performing, agile, and forward-looking Controller organization.
- Develop and execute a multi-year strategy that supports system modernization, reduces technical debt, and improves integration across LANL's financial systems landscape.
- Lead ERP transformation initiatives-from strategic planning through implementation-ensuring alignment with institutional goals and regulatory requirements.
- Leverage emerging technologies (e.g., AI, automation, advanced analytics) to streamline processes, enhance user experience, and deliver value to stakeholders.
- Promote a strong culture of accountability, transparency, and professional growth through mentoring, coaching, and team development.
- Champion structured change management practices that foster engagement, build trust, and deliver sustainable improvements.
- Serve as a key advisor to Controller leadership and work across divisions to align business systems strategy with the broader mission of the Laboratory.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Leadership & Change Management:
Demonstrated success leading transformation in complex organizations. Skilled in engaging teams through change, aligning efforts with institutional priorities, and implementing strategies that achieve meaningful, long-term impact.
Business Systems Expertise:
Extensive experience managing full business system lifecycles-from requirements to optimization. Deep familiarity with ERP platforms such as Oracle EBS, Oracle Cloud, and SAP. Able to align system capabilities with the needs of finance and administrative operations.
Technology and Innovation Orientation:
Proven ability to evaluate and adopt modern tools and technologies including cloud platforms, RPA, AI, and analytics. Skilled in advising leadership on systems strategy, modernization efforts, and technology-driven process improvement.
Team Development and Collaboration:
Experience building inclusive, collaborative teams and fostering trust and accountability. Skilled in conflict resolution, staff development, and aligning cross-functional stakeholders. Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex ideas clearly and persuasively across technical and business audiences.
Technical Tools:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) for effective communication, documentation, and reporting.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field from an accredited institution and 8 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the position. Postgraduate coursework or professional certification is desirable.
Desired Qualifications:
- Postgraduate Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MIS) or certification (e.g., CPA, PMP, Prosci).
- Experience leading ERP consolidations and legacy system retirements.
- Familiarity with systems such as Oracle, Concur, MicroStrategy, Empath, and Pricing and Estimating Modules (PEM).
- Experience in national laboratories, government agencies, or similarly complex regulated environments.
Work Location: The work location for this position is telework and is located in Los Alamos. Telework is defined as working from offsite but within 2hours ground commute of this location. Reporting onsite may be periodically necessary. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. For additional information, see DOE Order 472.2.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Incentive Compensation Program: Position is eligible to participate in the Triad Incentive Compensation Program. You must be in an eligible position for a minimum of 3 months, before July 1st and remain in an eligible position as of the end of the fiscal year, September 30th. The annual distribution is prorated based on the number of months in the eligible position.
