We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team supporting instructional technology services and training operations across the Laboratory.
This position provides essential support for the Learning Management System (UTrain) and other systems supporting training programs. Responsibilities include curriculum maintenance, training data tracking, reporting, session logistics, and end-user support. The role requires strong Excel proficiency, clear written and verbal communication skills. The selected candidate must also be available to work outside standard business hours on occasion, based on operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
Learning Management System (LMS) Administration
- Manage and maintain training data and records in UTrain and related systems
- Configure, update, and monitor training plans, curricula, and user assignments
- Troubleshoot LMS-related issues and coordinate resolutions with internal partners
- Track, analyze, and report training metrics using Excel and institutional reporting tools
- Identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement through data insights
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance in all training data management activities
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate training sessions, events, and implementation projects
- Provide logistical and technical support for both in-person and virtual training delivery
- Support off-hours training sessions or system rollouts as required by operational needs
- Serve as a liaison between training providers, program owners, and institutional stakeholders
- Ensure alignment with Laboratory training policies, DOE requirements, and procedural standards
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and user experience
Minimum Job Requirements:
Technical and Analytical Skills
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel for data management, analysis, and reporting
- Working knowledge of learning management systems (e.g., UTrain or similar platforms)
- Ability to research issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions
- Understanding of institutional training processes, DOE standards, and compliance requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to varied audiences
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team
- Proven ability to partner with stakeholders across organizational levels to achieve shared goals
- Experience managing and protecting sensitive data, including personally identifiable information (PII)
- Commitment to maintaining data accuracy, confidentiality, and adherence to Laboratory and federal data standard
- Experience with database querying, SharePoint, or data visualization tools
- Familiarity with DOE or other federal training environments
- Understanding of instructional design principles or training development workflows
Work Environment:
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is one year.

No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
