Los Alamos National Laboratory seeks an experienced Logistics Superintendent to oversee and manage Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) for union craft trades supporting the Logistics Central Shops (LOG-CS). This role also provides backup support to other craft superintendents as needed. As a Logistics Superintendent, you will join a diverse, fast-paced, and innovative team responsible for maintaining and supporting facilities across DOE Category II Nuclear and Non-Nuclear sites. Safety and security are core responsibilities, and the superintendent must ensure compliance, maintain required training, and stop work when conditions are unsafe or compromise security.
Craft deployments may be permanent, seasonal in duration or by emergent work priorities. Must work with deployed construction and maintenance managers regarding deployment and training needs along with monitoring employee performance with regular meetings and interactions with Craft Foreman and General Foreman. Understanding skill sets and qualification requirements for each craft type is essential to this position. This knowledge encompasses the general work skills, tasks, materials, and tools utilized to perform the task.

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily craft management and workforce deployment in accordance with CBAs, jurisdictional settlements, and Memorandums of Understanding.
- Collaborate with the LOG-CS Group Leader, other Superintendents, Training, and Labor Relations to ensure effective labor utilization and compliance.
- Coordinate with construction and maintenance managers on craft assignments, performance, and training needs.
- Support training plan development for all craft personnel, including technical, safety, environmental, and site-specific qualifications.
- Manage worker injuries, restricted duty cases, and HRP supervision in coordination with Occupational Medicine and Labor Relations.
- Develop and maintain short- and long-term manpower schedules, craft counts, and deployment priorities.
- Conduct site walk-downs, field oversight, and MOV completions to ensure safety, productivity, and compliance.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Experience directing work with an extensive understanding of collective bargaining agreements.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of collective bargaining agreements related to all trades.
- Experience in identifying safety concerns including incident investigations and development of lessons learned or other corrective actions.
- Extensive understanding of work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures.
- Extensive knowledge of facility maintenance, project, and construction policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated experience in multitasking, customer service, and conflict management.
Additional Job Requirements for Superintendent 3:
In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requires:
- In-depth knowledge of and experience with facility work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures.
- Advanced knowledge, experience, and ability to understand and interpret various physical, mechanical, and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
- Demonstrated experience and skill in identifying problem areas, investigating alternative solutions, and determining action to be performed on problems affecting performance.
- Demonstrated ability to provide strong leadership, mentorship, prioritization, and management of assigned employees in a collaborative and participative environment to build strong teams.
Education/Experience at lower level:
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the position.
Education/Experience at higher level:
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of relevant experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the position.
Desired Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience and skill in identifying problem areas, investigating alternative solutions, and determining action to be performed.
- Demonstrated experience and skill with labor relations to include bargaining unit employees.
- Applicant should have working knowledge and/or experience working in multiple hazardous facilities.
- Knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and utilize a computerized work management system in maintaining and tracking job activities.
- Demonstrated skill in the preparation and presentation of oral and written reports.
- Working knowledge of LANL Safety Culture Principle (SCoR).

Work Schedule: This position will be subject to 24/7 coverage, which will involve working a shift/weekend schedule. Employees may be eligible for a shift differential pay when assigned by their manager.
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.
