The work we do at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) matters to our country and the world! The Production Support Services Division office is looking for a dynamic leader! As the First Line Manager (FLM) for the Manufacturing Systems Team within the Manufacturing Systems and Infrastructure group where you will collaborate with Group Leaders (GL) and other managers to lead your teams to support Weapons Production for one of the most important institutions in the world. FLMs are key members and contribute in leading teams for support of mission goals and initiatives. FLMs develop and maintain good customer and cross-organizational relations, promote strong safety and secure workplace environment for an engaging workforce and ethics culture, and assist the GL office on other duties assigned.
The First Line Manger oversees daily activities in managing a robust workforce and managing multifaceted objectives including the following disciplines: process development, manufacturing, and technology; weapons component manufacturing; manufacturing quality and production control and/or program management to support national defense; security, energy, and environmental interests. The FLM PSS-1 supports organizations across ALDWP by managing multifaceted IT activities within the MRP (Manufacturing Resource Planning) & MES (Manufacturing Execution System), IT modernization, Software Development, COTS Deployment, IT Infrastructure deployment and maintenance for nuclear and non-nuclear environments.
This position is a fast-paced work environment requiring high energy, strong collaboration and quick informed decision making within a nuclear facility. The successful candidate will lead a team enabling program execution and technical excellence while meeting goals in operations, budget, and human resources management. They will work closely with the Group Leader and PSS and ALDWP mission execution organizations.

- Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited institution and 5 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
- Information Technology Strategy:
- Extensive knowledge and demonstrated experience collaborating with IT leadership and business customers to effectively deliver business and operational solutions for a diverse organization.
- This includes experience determining organizational objectives and interpreting company policies, establishing operational objectives and leading direct reports in executing them effectively.
- Leadership:
- Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional teams consisting of high-level computing professionals and technical professionals.
- Demonstrated experience managing deployed, teleworking or remote personnel.
- Demonstrated experience leading organizational change through a team concept.
- Effectively communicating strategic planning and leading tactical operations management.
- Strategic Collaboration:
- Experience interacting with peer IT and functional customer organizations, fostering effective working relationships, and communicating complex information to a wide variety of stakeholders, including the ability to evolve your thinking, influence and motivate others, and/or gain acceptance in sensitive situations while fostering strong relationships.
- Business Management and Development:
- Demonstrated operational business management and development skills, ability to develop and administer budgets, schedules, and performance standards, staffing, hiring, and forecasting; mentoring, staff development, succession planning, and enduring a safe and secure workplace for an organizational unit.
- Ability to use data to build cases for necessary change, measuring progress and demonstrate success.
- Demonstrated experience working with and/or within an IT organization to provide innovative business solutions.
- Communication:
- Proven ability and experience demonstrating effective communications and negotiation skills, both verbal and written.

Desired Qualifications:
- Technical Experience:
- Background with manufacturing and IT manufacturing tools and applications including but not limited MRP and MES systems.
- Functional and technical knowledge with Oracle Applications to include Oracle MRP and iBASEt Solumina MES.
- Experience leading information management initiatives and efforts, such as data migration, information systems upgrades, modernization of enterprise document and record keeping functionality, and protection of records against technological obsolescence.
- Experience in driving digital transformation through IT modernization, strategic software implementation and robust infrastructure architecture and management.
- Nuclear Facility Compliance:
- Familiarity with DOE/NNSA Laboratories research and development mission areas.
- Clearance:
- An active DOE Q-level clearance.
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management
Work Schedule: This position may/will require 24/7 coverage, which could/will involve working a shift/weekend schedule. Employees may be eligible for the shift differential pay when assigned by their manager. Shift/weekend assignments are at the discretion of the manager.
Position Commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2: Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular Position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Incentive Compensation Program: Position is eligible to participate in the Triad Incentive Compensation Program. You must be in an eligible position for a minimum of 3 months, before July 1st and remain in an eligible position as of the end of the fiscal year, September 30th. The annual distribution is prorated based on the number of months in the eligible position.
