This position, Manufacturing Manger 1 (MM1), will report directly to a Manufacturing Manager 3 (MM3) in the Power Supply & Production organization (PSP-6). Division and is responsible for providing manufacturing operations at TA-55 within Associate Laboratory Directorate Weapons Production (ALDWP).
The Manufacturing Manager 1 (MM1) will support the assigned Group and Team under the guidance of the Manufacturing Manager 3 (MM3). The MM1 will provide on the floor leadership for a team of approximately 10 - 20 operations personnel executing nuclear material operations in PF-4. Key responsibilities will include manufacturing floor planning, work oversight, and providing status of work performed. The MM1 will also perform work activities and be responsible for mentoring and coaching operations staff.
You will provide technical leadership and experience in managing the day-to-day floor operations in conjunction with the MM3 and Group Leader. The selected applicant will work across ALDWP and stakeholder organizations to facilitate successful execution of PSP Division missions and conduct of operations.

Minimum Job Requirements:
You will conduct both routine and job specific pre-job briefings with all involved workers and provide technical expertise for the activities being performed. You will ensure that safety and security are an integral part of every task, including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing a job is unsafe or could compromise security.
Leadership: Demonstrated record of successful technical leadership and proven ability in supervising, mentoring and motivating employees while developing personnel such as early career technicians.
Knowledge and Expertise: Demonstrated experience and expertise in one or more manufacturing flowsheet operations in PF-4. Experience planning for and managing tactical execution of work, tracking and reporting progress. Experience performing work in a manufacturing environment and executing work in compliance with nuclear facility requirements and conduct of operations.
Accountability: Demonstrated experience in implementing and maintaining formality of operations in a nuclear facility (or comparably complex facility) and demonstrated experience in developing procedural controls at the level of detail appropriate to the consequences of working in a nuclear facility.
Communication: Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills as evidenced by internal and/or external interactions, meetings, and briefings; effective interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of personnel and customers.
DOE Order 426.2: Requires a High School diploma and 3 years nuclear experience. Full-time related academic training (e.g., degree programs, trade schools, vocational programs, etc.) may be substituted on a one-for-one basis for 2 of the 3 years nuclear experience.
Education/Experience: Position requires a bachelor's degree and 1 year of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Location: This position will be physically located in Los Alamos, NM.
Desired Qualifications:
- Fissile Material Handler or Supervisor
- Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio)
- Experience with LANMAS and Weapons Integrated Production Scheduling
- Knowledge of 238Pu nuclear programs
- Experience working in PF-4 manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of Conduct of Engineering, Conduct of Maintenance and Conduct of Operations requirements

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.
426.2: This position is subject to DOE Order 426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities, which establishes entry-level requirements to ensure candidates selected for specific positions can successfully perform the requirements of the job.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
